I think it's cool they're putting money into the industry.
I think it's sad that their self worth is so low they focus more on buying the 'right' gear rather than just getting out there and having fun.
Usually occupies my mind for a second, then I get on with my day.

let them waste their money on stuff they don't need. someday they will smarten up and just decide to have fun on anything. some companies probably would not be able to keep going if it weren't for the noobs who need all the best stuff.

I think everyone starts off sucking. There is nothing wrong with people getting good gear and you can never go to expensive on outwear no matter how good or bad you are. But if they are buying Twall boots just starting off is a problem. Working at a ski shop for many years I saw kids coming in beggin there parents to buy what the pros use and they just wouldn't listen to my advise. Now on one hand I'm making more sales but on the other they aren't going to enjoy skiing as much as they would with intermediate skis and boots.

As far as the N00Bs decked out. I just figure at least they are out there skiing instead of eating Cheetos and playing xbox all day.
I thinking buying "good" gear is important. But there is a limit. Myself personally even when starting out I didn't buy anything that wasn't on some sort of a sale minus my skis. Even the skis I ride now I got a hookup price some look px jibs on sale and the year prior salomon SPK kaos boots.
Good gear= YES
brand new everything= No unless the company is giving it to you.
