My local thrift store sucks. Their only snow gear is two 10 year old snowboards with no bindings for $70. As for cloths their is just 4 boxes filled with men and women's cloths.

I went to a salvation army near my house, 90% of the warehouse was clothes, a small furniture section, and then there was a single pair of ski boots that look like they were stolen from my home mtns rental fleet

I worked on a schooner in the Hudson for a while, and we would usually dock in NYC. After work every day the gang and I would go wander around the city and see what we could find. One day we ended up wandering into a little thrift shop and in this shop, was the thickest, most luxurious faux leopard fur coat I had ever seen. The woman who bought that thing originally must have been massive, because it went down to my knees. I paid $5 for what ended up being this really nice coat I guess. The only problem was, I was living on this boat, in the tiniest crew quarters ever, so I had no real pieces of luggage to get this huge coat from NYC back to Colorado. I came so close to letting my friend keep it since he just had to drive up to Canada when he finished his work, but I finally made it fit, and it's now one of the greatest things I own.

not really a thrift store but it's kinda like tj maxx, where stores send their overstock, but I bought a really nice black north face outer that is fucking amazing for $75, and I wear it every day.

why didnt you just mail it to yourself/family/friends?

is it cheating if its like a outdoor gear consignment shop sort of deal? I found a pair of 07 fujatives (the dope brown topsheet) with fks race bindings for like 60 bucks one day. I honestly have no idea why I got rid of them, it was like looking at a piece of skiing history.

They have some absolute treasures in there if you're willing to look regularly and get past the weird old people that always seem to be loitering around inside for some reason.
