Mr.BishopLol... I'd have to do a shitload of training to get back in fighting shape. Admittedly my desk job has made me pretty soft.
Mr.BishopMaybe one day... I don't feel like my adventure is over. I'm just getting started.
DrailHA. Dude... those quick shots of the W. Now that brought back memories. Looking back, we should have got a shot with the customs dudes with the W.
iSki13casual i can see you wearing a thong in argentina or switzerland combing that corner back on the packers mckenzies braids.
do you wear a helmet to and from work?
iSki13toasty teenagers you seem like you are from hawaii, is that true?
.LincolnMore important question... Is there a MRS. Bishop???
casualThis thread sucks cock, but Bishop as a human and skier, does not. Unless he does, and there's nothing wrong with that!
Seriously though, some rad shredding Doug, and the shifty 5 heli shot is tits. Real ass post all around, and the best part about all of it is the pic of you and the little one on skis together. That right there is what this shit is all about—share your passion with people you love. Nothing more newschoolers than that.
integratedWho did you guys sell the site too?

toastyteenagersI live in Vegas, the exact opposite of Hawaii.
Kim_Jong-IllestSkied with bishop last year. He still has those shifty 3 but his rail game needs a little improvement

Crispy.I was about the say the opposite. Bishop your rail game from that 2003 sponsor tape was fire. Banger disaster 450 onto a flat down.
WillardBishop had shots in Poorboyz x=10 bonus feature...
Mr.BishopI was asleep! Went to bed early last night.
To answer your question, yes I am a skier.
Now the caveat on that is back in the day I skied a ton more than I have in the last few years. Having babies will do that temporarily to a person.
Here's my quick story:
I started skiing in a baby carrier at about 6 months on my dad's back. (The REAL Mr.Bishop). Was dragged around on plastic sticks until I could stand on my own at about two, then skied ever since. I was a racer for a really long time, but in about '97/'98 when the newschool movement started I felt I had found my calling. I didn't like snowboarding, which is why I stuck with skiing.
Fast forward a few years, I'm in college taking English and had started skiing the park at every single opportunity I could. Went to High North and decided I wanted to be a pro. Rode a shitload of halfpipe at the beginning, but got into more slopestyle stuff later.
Dropped out of college after a year and a half to ski full time, and pursue my career as a pro skier. This is maybe like 1999/2000. Started skiing, competing, filming, etc. Worked jobs like coaching freestyle programs, and started to work in terrain parks. Got job at High North Ski camp as digger.
Found Newschoolers, eventually met Harvey.
At the point that Harvey decided to take the job at Freeskier, he turned the site over to his partner at the time, CKO. CKO and I were at High North together, and I was coming to the realization that I sucked way too bad to be a pro, nobody was actually paying me, and I was never going to win the X-games. I liked building terrain parks, but that was a pretty dead-end job for me at the time too. I wanted more.
I was really good at getting sponsors and hustling, way better than I was at skiing. He suggested that I give a shot at moving to Montreal and trying to sell advertising for Newschoolers, which at the time Harvey had to pay the server with his shoe store job. Risky move, but I said fuck it.
For those first three years we took Newschoolers from the bedroom hobby it was into the business that it is today. I skied 4 days a week, and sold ads the rest of the time. I worked at High North in the summers skiing and building parks. I got a ton of skiing in.
We sold Newschoolers back in 2007 after making it successful enough that a company got interested in buying it. At that point I took a much more serious role in building and maintaining the business.
I also started to really realize that I was never going to be a pro (secretly I didn't give up on that dream for a long time) and that this NS gig was pretty sweet. Loved doing it, I'd fallen in love with the tech world, and it gave me an extreme feeling of joy to help build something that gave so many others a place to really enhance their skiing experience.
Usually when doing my job, I actually get to do some solid shredding. If we all go to an event, I don't cover it but I go skiing with some of the marketing people. This last season I went to visit a bunch of our clients, and did a couple of wicked weeks in Colorado, a week at Jackson, went out to hood in the summer, whistler, did some awesome days on the east coast.
As mentioned, the few years I was having kids my days got pretty thin, but that is coming back together. Still need to get in better shape, as I'm nowhere near the athlete I once was.
I never really accomplished much in my 'wanna-be-am-that-wishes-he-was-pro' days, but I maybe got like one ad in SBC skier, a shot in the beginning of UP1.2 and a segment in the Ski bum productions movie.
But fuck do I love skiing. Its a different experience for me now, as I don't need to learn the hardest trick out there to have a good time. I really just enjoy riding the whole mountain, whether its lapping the park doing 360s, sliding a few boxes, skiing the trees, carving switch or catching some pow when I get the chance. I've almost found more love for the sport than I did in the old days, because I don't have any pressure to constantly get better and prove myself. I can just go out with good people and rip whatever I feel like ripping.
I'm planning on getting out there a ton more this season, and in subsequent seasons now that I've dialed the family life in. I'm stoked to teach my son and daughter to ski, and I'm stoked to come out to member gatherings and rip with you guys.
Here's a few shots from the old days, though note this was a while ago so some of it is super fucking cheesy:

Anyway, sorry for the super long post, but figured I'd give as good an answer as possible.
TL;DR - Still ski, just not as hard as I used to - but man do I love it.

ozzywrongThat 540 shifty was sick.. you shred man OG mogul knee accent pants in some of the pipe shots !
cdipi hope one day bishop will return to blue mountain
Mr.BishopLol, was never a mogul guy, was actually a racer. The knee accents were custom duct tape jobs. I saw other people with knee accents, liked duct tape and just sent it.
Thanks on that 5 shifty. Was super proud of that one.
I actually go there a few times per year, but I'm usually stealth. My brother lives up in swiss meadows on top of blue and skis there all the time. Dave Bishop. His house is the one you can see from the century express up near the top on the right.
I'll hit you up when we're there. Probably around christmas or something like that.
cdipPlease dont forget dude!! We can drop a "Bishop returns" edit with my new setup!
DeepskierI feel OP is trying to troll like steve but this thread has grown to be good so his shit troll is forgiven.
