Alcohol fueled progression

how bad of an idea is it to get just a little drunk, drunk enough to get confidence but not so drunk that you lose motor skills, when trying to learn a trick that spooks me

Not a bad idea at all dude. It reduces the chance of injury as well by relaxing your muscles.

I've done this a few times. Gets me confident enough to try and hit things I wouldn't normally hit.

But sometimes it leaves me laying on the ground crying because I cant denver how to get up, and thinking I'll never walk again.

You shouldn't soberly premeditate what trick you're gonna try once your drunk. I have gotten drunk and tried things, but it was just like I drank before a contest and then in the heat of the moment tried some crazy shit, but nothing like some crazy new flip I've never done.

i bring a flask with me every time i ski. can't remember a single time over the last 2-3 years i haven't been 5 shots deep.

Depends on how much of a buzz we're talking. At a certain point, if you learn something while intoxicated, there's a chance you won't be able to do it sober. I don't know how it works exactly, but I do know that if you learn something intoxicated in some way, you're brain will be able to do it again when drunk, but you may not be able to when sober. I know that if, for example, you study for a test drunk, chances are you won't really have the knowledge when sober, but you would remember it if you got drunk again, so I'm assuming it would work similarly with learning tricks skiing. Strange the way our brains work.

Maybe try turning on some sick jams and huck it? That's always worked for me instead of using liquid courage.

Here is the recipe you might be looking for:

- 1 bottle of whiskey, a case of brewskis, and fresh lettuce picked from the Devils garden.

- Get your crew, get your skis, get your car, carpool your ass up for night skiing.

- SKI

Some of my most memorable and funnest nights I've had consisted with this specific remedy and has never steered me wrong.

Of course it's a good idea. I always used to mix energy drinks and vodka when judging back in the day. Never did I ever do anything stupid or sketchy on my snowboard or feet afterwards.


I'm pretty sure it makes you bullet proof.

Like you can go full speed through the glades and some how your body just knows how to move around them. IF you blast tupac while doing tight trees or moguls you become a fucking legend.

Bode Miller had only skied a few times before he went to a happy hour at a bar at a ski hill while visiting friends. HE ended up renting a pair of skis and then this happened.




Weed makes you lazy. Booze makes you a champion.

Well I mean the plus side to this is if you come an alcoholic you'll have the trick for good

I love skiing with a few shots or brews. It doesn't affect your motor skills enough to be detrimental and takes away unnecessary fear that usually holds you back.

Skiing sober is basically just as fun though, I just tend to overthink things a little more.

I dropped a 20-30ft cliff after a few too many beers once. My muscles were all loose and relaxed and the fall didn't hurt at all!

I love having a flask of whiskey when skiing at night. I'm surprised by the lack of support for bud though! I ski stronger, faster, and love the way my vision of the downhill terrain becomes more clear and creative after a toke on the lift. Ganja has definitely accounted for lots of my progression and growth as a skier.

I ski drunk all the time. Have skied with a slight buzz all the way to full out wasted. Obviously the more drunk you are you lose some balance, etc. But for me at least getting a nice buzz gives me so much confidence to throw down and rip around the mountain.

Honestly ive tried drinking and skiing and it didnt turn out well. Dont get me wrong it was a great time, but i couldnt slide a rail for shit nevermind hitting a jump. maybe i was just too drunk tho.

It can work in a car crash but it also ups your likehood to be in a car crash if you're driving.

Maybe it relaxes your muscles but your not going to be as on point and you're more likely to do something stupid.

I drink when I ride but I just like to keep a casual buzz. It isn't to ride better or learn. Also have seen too many people get too sloppy to even ride many times.

Maybe you try something you wouldnt have and it works but I think it balances out at best and is no where near a hack the way mushrooms or even weed might be.

I learned some of my best stuff while drinking in the park. Just gotta make sure you don’t go over the line or else skills go downhill.

Now I ski sober 99.9% of the time. It’s a totally different headgame. Just try getting a buzz in the park and see how it works for you. I wouldn’t be able to be high in the park.

Usually whenever I smoke I premeditate what to do when I’m in the moment. Usually feels way steezier after doing what I think in the moment.
