i have some poles with pretty uncomfortable grips and was thinking about putting some old mountain bike grips i had laying around on them. I know line does this with bmx grips or "bmx style" grips. has anyone done this? how do the "skinny" poles feel?
Considering Line does this across their entire line of poles, which has been wildly popular over the past few years, you should be good. If it feels good on your BMX bars, why wouldnt it on a ski pole?
jlens05i was also worried about how to get straps on them. any ideas?
Before you put the grip on, try putting a wooden cork type thing in the top, and put a few set screws in it so it doesnt pop out. then, after you put the grip on, just use a screw and a washer to attach the strap to the top.
I've done it before, if they're alloy poles it's a bit easier but composite/carbon poles tend to have really narrow shafts so you have to pad it out a bit for the grip to stay on.
