What does blockading the street even have to do with their movement? Is there goal to convince 40 year old soccer moms to fire bomb the police station? I don't get it.
Now if they held continuous non-violent protests in front of police stations while allowing the police to still do their jobs, that would be a good way to get a point across. And if cops over-reacted on this type of protest, it would actually help their movement.

The person that was in the red jacked was trying to get away when they got caught. Sure the protesters are idiots for protesting in a busy intersection, but at the same time I don't think there is any really good reason to run someone over. He may have been late getting home from work or late getting to work or whatever. Nothing justifies taking another persons life even if they are a bit or an asshole or ill-informed. At the same time No one should hit a car that's running and on.
Protesters definitely should have pizza'd instead of french fried.

Right? It's pretty amazing how quickly these people forgot about Ferguson, Michael Brown, and corrupt cops as soon as they had something else to feel indignant and complain about. Just goes to show that protestors like this stand for nothing except their own feeling of self-righteousness for having done the morally correct thing.

I have to say, I don't know what I would have done in the moment if I was in this situation. I very well might have done exactly what he did, especially if I wasn't the only one in the car.
What I'd like to think I'd do would be drive forward extremely slowly, like 5kph, such that the only way you'd get hurt is if you LITERALLY put yourself under my wheels. Then drive away until I'm free, park my car, and call the police. While waiting for the police to arrive, I would then write down (or record on my phone) descriptions of everyone I remember who were attacking my vehicle. Then I would insist the police accompany me back to the protest and arrest those people. Give me at least a half dozen people to sue (or probably more accurately to provide to my insurer to sue).
I think that would be the best way to deal with the situation once you're already in it. But coming up with that on sober reflection is very different than doing it when there are people smashing on your windows and yelling at you.

Probably just figured that the other guy got away with it so he could run some people down himself. Unfortunately he hit a cop. If that had been some regular dudes it probably wouldn't have a been a big deal. Now he's fucked though.
