Changing style

did a half-assed searchbar didn't find anything...

So, I was watching all the new edits that came out today, and it made me think about all the different styles out there. It made me wonder a few things.

First, what makes someone have a more hipster style vs a more OG style (looking at the new Simple. Edit https://www.newschoolers.com/membervideo/739055.0/SIMPLE---OPENING-WEEKEND?s=167500&t=6&o=8 one of the kids rocks some APO's and has a more newschool style) vs something like John Ware style of OG stomping.

Second, does a person's style depend on just how they naturally ski, or do people have the style that reflects what they prefer (obviously this is to an extent since we cant all land flawless sw dub 10's like Tom).

Third, can people successfully change their style permanently without having to always thinkinkg about it?

There is a lot of common ground between these questions, so answering one might just let someone else give a better answer for a different one

A lot of style has to do with a persons body type. A short stocky person is going to have a noticeably different style than a tall lanky one. The ratio of leg to torso length is going to affect what a person looks like when they ski.

Aside from that there are a lot of other nuances that affect style. The fit and color of your clothes can affect what the skiing looks like, but that stuff is secondary to what your body and skis are actually doing.

The boot you use will change how you ski. When I went from SPKs to full tilts it changed how I was skiing and it had to have looked at least a little different.

Look at Tom Wallisch, his style has become refined over the years. Maybe it was because he had injuries and decided to change or maybe just because it looks cool. His landings were some of the best in 08 but now he lands with that tight stance and his landings are my favorite.

You can change your style, but forced style is noticeably ugly.

Baggy clothes hide shaky knees and sketchiness. If your style is doo-doo just wear a dress and you'll give the illusion of steeziness.

I have baggy outerwear and tight outerwear. I just base it off of how I'm feeling that day, weather conditions, and what I want to hit. Your style is what you want yourself to look like blended with how you naturally ski.

I coined a term for my style, Jankster.

Its a mix of hipster and gangster, and totally fucking janky. It works for me.

do you think that you can definitively change your style after already having a refined one? example being Ian Compton's style change from OG to... whatever you wanna call it now. I think his OG style was more forced, but Im really not sure
