Do you think people who are new to park should be wearing Saga?

Honestly, this does look cool. If you can brave a storm and still be warm in just a steezy hoodie then I'm jealous. Not a lot of people can do that.

Saga.This thread makes me happy and sad. Some of the responses are very good and others are pretty ignorant. Saying you shouldn't wear something because of your skill is like saying you can't wear carhartt if you don't work a manual labor job, its absurd. If you like something, like the way you feel, look, etc do it, end of story. New members to the ski and snowboard community are what keep things fresh and growing. The last thing Saga wants to be is exclusive. Thats why we have the hash tag SagaFam, post featured fans on our blog and instagram and share content from random customers. We want everyone to feel like they are a part of this wonderful community.

Personally it dosent matter what they wear, they bought it so they get to rep it, but i completely understand the thread!

i personally just hate when i see skiers look better than they ski. pisses me off and makes me super jealous to see them spend so much money then not even be good. destroys what skiing is about for me , seems like they just doing it for the looks not the love of the ride.

This is one of the problems in the ski community

WE as a community have created this externally judgmental sector of a sport, our sport, that is based soley upon FREEdom (hence FREEskiing)

People were killed judged on appearance of skin color during the great depression, and your still focused on what other people wear? (OP)

Threads like this remind me of how much people like OP are focusing on actually skiing rather than interrogating new skiers on accordance to their clothing

You should be more focused on going up to the newbie and letting him/her into the free ski community rather than exclude him/her soley by what they are wearing to keep warm

Questions like this are negligible

not this thread....again....if begginers cant wear saga, than what the hell are they suppose to wear? Armada? Orage? well all of these other brand also look really good and some wear it in XXL like bdog or henrik. So your telling that begginers should all look like gapers (which everyone are hating on).

You were all beginners at one time. You didn't go into the park your first time and stomp a dub or 2 pretz 2 on a rail. Everyone starts somewhere. When I first started doing park I could do some rails and some spins. I was ok for my first day in the park. I'm sure some of you were better than me your first day doing park and I'm also sure some of you were worse than me your fist day of park. So what I am trying to say is we were all beginners at one time so if a beginner wears stuff thats cooler than you it doesn't matter. Your better at the sport than them. Just because little Tommy just got the saga O.G pullover doesn't make him better. There is no need to be jealous what beginners wear because you are better so leave them alone and ski.

I definitely don't give a shit what people wear, but this is actually sort of an interesting topic. Not just for Saga in particular, but the ratio of how nice someone's gear is to how skilled they are is a pretty good indicator of their discretionary income.

Since skill comes with a long time spent dedicated to the sport, someone with high end gear who isn't good probably dove head first into a huge investment without really knowing how their fondness of the sport would develop as time passed. In the case of kids who can't hit a rail wearing Saga.. mommy and daddy probably have a lot of money.

This is definitely not always the case.

WE were all beginners at one time. If they are bad and wear cool stuff it doesnt matter. Use that to your advantage follow them into a rail when they hit the side of the kicker and get 1 cm of air do something cool and it will make you look pro. DOnt be mean or bother them they just make you look good.

im a straight up first year park skiier, you will not see me sucessfully hit a rail for quite some time. But i bought a saga coat this year. Why? Because i like Saga and the gear they make and what they represent to the skiing community. Will i get looked down upon when im looking mad cool and then go up and eat shit time after time? maybe but honestly dude i could care less.

Guess what!!! I owned saga before I knew how to hit a rail way back in the day! And guess what?!!! The people who gave props and tips didn't gve a shit and were way better than the people who didn't!! It's almost as if people who really just care about the sport and having fun don't care what you're wearing as long as you're having fun and progressing..... But I must be crazy. I probably should have worn Walmart outerwear.. I'm so stupid!

I can't stand people wearing what they want to wear. Last time I saw a beginner riding saga and trying to improve I shot him then I stole his stuff so his gear could belong to a good skier. Nobody should have the freedom of wearing what they want.

The thing I have found with this is that the majority of people don't give a shit what other people wear. They are focused on their own skiing and having fun. It is always the insecure windbags who get all bent out of shape about this stuff.


I'm glad you realize that, because not enough people do. No one gives a fuck. If you are friendly, being respectful of park etiquette, aren't a weirdo or an interloper, people will treat you great. In my experience, anyone trying stuff, having fun, being positive, hiking, whatever is immediately accepted. If you're straightlining the middle of the park, side jumping lips, being an arrogant asshole, bragging about tricks you can do, will do, or used to do before your "injury" or otherwise being lame, you won't be accepted. What clothes you have on won't factor in, I promise.

The park isn't this standoffish, scary place with a dresscode that it is sometimes made out to be. If it is, you're at the wrong one, or you need to change the culture.

I just started skiing this year and I can do some neat rail tricks like switch-ups and fs 270 outs on turbo tubes, I dont own saga but I still wear my snow pants baggy and my jacket is tall. When you feel good, you ski good. Skiing is more of an art than a sport (my opinion), and your style is 70% of the art while the content is more like 30%. A switch up on a rail can be a simple trick, but who looks better doing while doing it: the guy wearing a race suit who doesnt control his upper body and looks shaky and unconfident, or the dude wearing freestyle brands who controls his torso and pole positioning while the whole trick just flows together. The trick is only 30% of the sport, the style is the other portion. So some kid who can only 180 will look a hell of a lot more awesome doing it in the newest saga gear. Just my 2 cents...

I suck in the park but I always throw a XXL hoodie on, I feel more comfortable as I like the look and being more comfortable improves my skiing style. There will always be people in the park starting out but they will get better, in my opinion buying good gear like saga is just a sign of someone committing to the sport which is always good to see.
