HOMOPHOBIA ON THIIS SITE

why is there so much homophobia on this site? everytime sombody thinks someone is stupid, bad at skiing etc. they call them 'gay', 'fag', 'faggot', homo', or in the case or the really bad spellers, 'faygett'.

have any of you heard about racism? it used to be a big problem (and still is in some places) but is slowly becoming less popular. now, homophobia is taking over. it is very similar to racism because it is a form of discrimination against people who are different.

if you said someone skied 'like a black person', you would be called a racist and people would be mad, however, if you say,:you ski like a fag' nobody cares and most just laugh or agree. THIS NEEEDS TO STOP. i know many gay people who have been tormented their whole lives, have no friends, and fear their safety because they were born different. gay people are people too and deserve to be treated as such


hopefully someday we can look back and ask ourselves 'how could people have beed such homophobic assholes back then?' just as we look back on the age of racism.

KLD, as far as rights are concerned, I think I have the right to think less of you for anything, and you have the same right. I'm a fan of freedom of speech, and yes, I am prejudiced towards bigots. I try to see things from everyone's point of view, and I agree most with people who do the same thing.

To Kamikaze, no that is not right that things like that happen. And to JD, did anywhere I say that it is ok for that to happen? No, I didn't. I said thats what will happen, and it is the truth. There are people out there that are so anti gay that they will hurt and kill people that are willing to show their gay pride. Are you ttrying to tell me thats not happening? Because it defenently is. Parkboy, it sounds to me like that's something that anyone could do, regardless of their sexuality. Some homosexuals flaunt it, and I don't agree with that reinforcement of stereotypes, because the vast majority of homosexuals are absolutely normal people just like you and me. I think you'd agree that heterosexuals are in general a lot more indicative about sexuality than homosexuals- for example, holding hands with your girlfriend in the hall. Showing your balls in gym class isn't a trait of homosexuality- it's just a homosexual coming to terms with his own sexuality. And don't worry, gay guys don't want to get with heterosexuals any more than you want to get with them.

^Dude... what the hell are you talking about? God? Fanaticize his words? What words? I'm confused as hell here... are you sure you read my post, there, Pete? I actually wasn't so much making a generalization as implying one, really. In my experience, all the gay people I know are really, really nice people. All the homophobes are dicks. I find it, if nothing else, an interesting pattern.

KLD, I'm glad you don't agree with that, and I never suspected that you did. However, I want to make clear that it should not be assumed that the REASON that these things happen are not because some people are openly homosexual, it's because some people hate and want to hurt homosexuals. Can we solve this problem by repressing all homosexuals? Yes. Can we solve this problem by educating that homosexuality is a normal and acceptable lifestyle? Yes. Which would you prefer?

Coming to terms with his own sexuality? Correct me if i'm wrong but isn't this indecent exposure and against the law? By the way it wasn't gym class it was at my work which is a gym.

well nevermind what i said before, i guess alot of you shittheads really do mean it in a sexual way when you call someone a fag. me and my firends call eachother fags when we say somthing stupid or whatever, but we never think about its sexual meaning. it is similar for us to calling eachother idiots. i think that most people who call people gay or whatever dont really think about what it even means. they just hear it and repeat it without much thought. there are some people who actually do hate gay people for some reason. My guess is that they are just uncomfortable with themselves

oman has got it all right in my opinion. I dont care if you are a lesbian or a gay guy, you will not affect me in any way. I use the word gay as much as everyone, but I do not even think of putting gay ppl down when I say it, its just like calling someone a fucker or an asshole for me, and it got into the commonly used language of kids our age.

or maybe everyone is reading way to deeply into people who say 'that's gay' refering to a bad ski trick or w/e and they're just saying something; they don't have to be uncomfortable with themselves, a gay basher, or w/e, it's just an expression someone happens to use. I say it on occassion and need to stop, i know that, but it's certainly not because i relate gay with being stupid or have my own problems or any of that shit. I don't agree with it (hypocrite though i may seem to be) but still, come on, it's just a word. Argue how offensive words are, i know it all. But these are things in life that every person needs to deal with and sometimes being pc can't be the most important thing on people's minds; sometimes a person will slip, and say something like this, and mean absolutly nothing by it. just consider it.
