Replying to The science behind scissoring (strictly backside)
yo, suggestive title aside, I was talking to my friend today about scissoring on rails, and he said the thinks the rocker in his skis (Faction 1.0) might be helping him with backside spin tricks. I also have rockered skis (APO Kai Pro) and I know that rocker helps with tip catching, but after my friend said that it might help, he also said that that is why rail skiers use rockered skis. He might be right, but from a completely objective look at rocker vs camber on rails, I would think that camber would be better for scissoring since the ski is closer to the rail (bending toward the rail instead of away like rocker would) and how, when you put pressure on the scissored ski, the camber would give you more energy return. both my friend and I didn't really know. So NS, my question is how does your ski affect backside scissors with camber vs rocker.
I thought this might be a helpful thread for people looking to get into mainly rail skiing
