Skis for bumps and moguls

I'm primarily a bump skiier; it's what I love more than anything. There are two skis that are phenonenal mogul skis, but still have a good curve and allow you to ski park and groomers all day - the Fatypus B-Nasty and the Hart F-17 Classic.

My GF and I both have the B-Nasty and we love them, took them out yesterday for opening day. However, they only come in 175. You want a mogul ski to be a bit longer, but you might not be comfortable with something that long.

It's important to note that the Hart has to be the F-17 Classic, not the F-17 WC, if you want all mountain capability. The WC is mogul only. However, you might see if the F-17 Rocket Jr. fits your need. It's for lighter, intermediate mogul skiiers, forgiving, and way cheaper than either the Fatypus or F-17 Classic.

Dynastar Twisters and Elan Bloodline are popular as well, and cheaper. But the Twisters break, and the Bloodlines are too soft.

Idk where you have seen twisters break, but they are the go-to for a lot of the kids who shred the bumps around the East coast. They are the perfect flex for the east coast bumps, and except for the tip, I love them (they were a bit soft in the nose for me). Other than that, I agree. check out Volkl Wall mogul ski if you want a stiff ski, but that is almost definitely going to be too much of a ski for a beginner.

Where do you do most of your skiing, op? The Blizzard Latigo could be a good choice if you're looking for a ski that will still do well in bumps while performing and being a fun ski to use in a wide variety of conditions.

I saw a couple break at the Bear mogul challenge a couple years ago. But I also saw a broken F-17 WC.

You know, a set a Twisters might be the right ski for the OP if he's building a quiver. He's not heavy, they aren't pricey, and soft tips are good for developing technique.

I've heard good things about Walls from multiple people and would love to try them. They wouldn't be appropriate for the OP though.

Yea I used twisters in a USSA comp that was the day before the BMMC and I wished I had the walls for that stuff. The slush was so deep my tips would dig into the idea of the bumps and fold. Do you compete in BMMC a lot? My former coach has won it 3 years in a row I think and atleast last year

Thanks for your tips. I looked into skis mentioned and will be getting an affordable pair from Line, Blizzard or Vokle. For now, I need an entry level all mountain skis. Incidentally, I live in down state Michigan and rarely ski into 5" deep fresh mountain snow.
