fuck school lunches. I'm a junior in highschool and the shit they serve is jank. It's like $2.50 for a lunch (fake burger or pizza, a tiny milk and a piece of fruit.) Biggest bullshit ever, I just brown bag it everyday
DNA I remember HS lunches back in the day, sooo good. Fresh made wraps and burgers, design your own subs and salads. Hell even the 3 dollar stock lunches were good! How many of you guys actually have been served something like in the opñ
Yeah my schools lunches got fucked last year. Thank god for open campus. They got rid of everything good....now all they serve is this process junk that I guarantee are worse than the fresh food we would get.

Cant these kids just bring a PBJ from home? A helluva lot cheaper than paying a monthly tab to horseshit that is supposed to be good for you. Of course the kids of lower income really dont have any other choice, but these whiney twats on twitter should just fuck off and bring their own food if they are so concerned. Its not like youre forced to eat their garbage.
My high school lunches are amazing, I mean nothing like OMG I LOVED THAT but still very palatable.
Every day we have the option of
-Chicken sandwich
-Burger
-Pizza
and then some other option they offer.
As sides we have salads and some kind of fruit, strawberries, pineapple of an orange are typical and not just apples.
I would be prone to say that up to 90 percent of kids that get school lunch are happy with it, But we also did just get a new school and a ton of state funding so maybe thats part of it.
To finish off this thread here is a picture of my Cafeteria/food court. Construction is just now rapping up on the little things so thats why its not quite done.

Just another reason my kids now go to Catholic school. Lunches are cooked right there and they actually rock. I think every other week they get a breakfast for lunch day with french toast and bacon or sausage. The first day my son came home from school after we made the switch, he said, "Dad, I can't believe it. We had hotdogs today, and I ate one, and I didn't barf". He used to throw up after eating the hotdogs at the public school. The shit they are serving in public school now would gag a maggot. I feel bad for you guys. Not sure how anyone could be expected to pay attention in class when they are starving. And what really sucks is that, while Michelle is making normal kids eat this crap, the Obama girls enjoy the best school lunches in the country. Crusted tilapia is an example:

I was put there cause they thought that I was going to share my food with a kid who had peanut butter, or something stupid like that. I think we should go back to the good ol way of just having kids sit next to each other regardless of allergies, what they are eating, etc.

My district attempted to ban all sack lunches for elementary (some kid this year almost died from a reaction) but the parents fought back hard enough that it was revoked. They have also changed the rules in high-school so that we can only eat food in the cafeteria or approved locations on campus.

I was kind of wondering about this, because kids at our local high school used to walk about a half a mile to get BK cafe or something else from a nearby strip mall. I was always pretty stoked to see them do it, because they were at least getting some exercise from walking.
For me it wasnt the taste or quality of the food but rather the quantity. Of coarse that differs from person to person but most in my school who had a normal appetite went back to class hungry.

Upperclassmen are at my school, some of my neighboring high-schools have closed campus so you can't leave during lunch. With my school at least the only place in walking distance is a gas station, so we usually drive somewhere.

Barack makes laws to benifit the poor... so all the unemployment checks being given to the lazy and unemployed (including some of my family members) come out of the working mans paychecks... so pretty much if Obama wasn't around, the people that actually work,the working man would get paid what they deserve, and so would the unemployed (they deserve nothing unless they physically CANNOT work and don't have some bullshit excuse to be unemployed)... Also, Democrats are complaining about how minimum wage needs to be raised, but if minimum wage is raised, then so do the prices of the products they are selling. So say u make 7.25 at McDonald's and a Burger is a buck...If minimum wage is raised up to 10 bucks an hour, that same burger would cost around 3 dollars... so then the 2.75 dollars more ur making an hour prpretty much cancels out... fuck Obama and his wife.

We used ti have a SICK fresh Chinese food thing at my school freshman year. That thing was the bomb, I ate it at least twice a week. Then sophomore year it was there every other week, only to be gone by my junior year. Senior year the food was super nasty, and I never ate at school again.
In highschool I would just go off campus at lunch. Grocery store deli food was so cheap and pretty good, plus lunchtime activities made the food taste better.
Interesting. Where I grew up 90% of kids would either bring their own lunch or go across the road to subway or a pizza place or something. Cafeteria was pretty much only used for the legendary cookies.
