Looking for a quality ski shop in the Southeast for mounting bindings.

First off, I realize this question is more appropriate in the gear or regional thread, but those areas don't seem to get much attention. Admins, please let this thread sit in Ski Gabber for a couple of days until it gets some replies, then feel free to move it to a more appropriate location. Thanks.


So I've just purchased a couple expensive pairs of skis and bindings for myself and the GF. The problem is, I unfortunately live in Charleston, South Carolina and I don't know of any shops locally that I trust to mount my bindings... We plan on taking a couple East Coast trips this year before taking our big West Coast Vacation. Most likely will be in the Sugar/App/Beech area in NC, and the Snowshoe/Canaan area in WV. Does anybody have recommendations for some reliable/experienced ski shops in these areas or in SC? Obviously I don't want some local bumpkin drilling holes in my new skis. Also, any opinions on the Asheville REI on I-26? Does it have a good shop with experienced folks? Any recommendations or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Does anybody have experience with Alpine Ski Center, Ski Country Sports, or 1st tracks? Still looking for a reliable shop with lots of experience mounting bindings.

Do NOT go to REI. APP is really good at mounting but they'll charge you an ungodly amount. $60 for a mount if you don't buy your shit there. Farmers ski shop would be your best bet. Ask for Jack to mount them

Alpine is where I get all of my stuff mounted. I recommend them.

last time i was there they did fine. a few years before that they told me they couldn't handle my wide skis (chronics) and to take them somewhere else lol

i would avoid ski country in charlotte, had a bad mounting experience there once. they made it right, and earned my respect there but i no longer trust them with mounting. i assume the shops closer to the resorts are slightly more competent.
