Replying to Ski lenght
Hi all,
I'm new to this forum and to freesking. At the moment I'm in a procces of buying myself a nice touring set of skis, which will get me up on the mountain and down, whether there'll be hard packed snow or alot of powder to play in( hoping for the last :D), but can't decide on which lenght to go with. I've already narrowed my search to K2 Wayback 88 skis, but can't choose between 174cm or 181cm. My height is 183 cm and weight is around 84kg but naked. Some friends say i should go for shorter cuz it'll be easier to learn with them, other friends tell me to go with longer cuz it'll be better when I'll pick up more skills.
I've been mainly snowboarding for the last 15 years, had no problem with pistes or powder and have only used skis occasionally and always on piste. So I would say I am beginner to intermediate skier. Definitely have alot to learn of the piste. But I'am phisicaly well prepaired (DH/ AM biking in the summer, snowboarding in the winter), am a fast learner and I tend to acostumize fast to new sports.
Now I am sure it is easier to start with shorter skis, but I'm buying this set for longer period, 5 years or so, if they'll hold up, that's why I think I should go with 181. Will 181 realy be to long at the start? Would 7cm longer skis make such a difference at the start, that I would wish for 174?
Any information or advice is greatly apreciated and helpfull and sorry for my lol english. :D
