Looking for an upgrade...

Dude why do you even want to upgrade? What lenses do you have with your t3i?

You've only posted one skiing edit on NS where you used a t3i, where is all of the other stuff you filmed with it!

I don't see why you would just pour money into a newer, more expensive camera.

I use the stock 18-55mm and a 55-250mm. That was the only full length edit I made last season and I have become much better with film since then. I am in a broadcasting class at school in which I have spent countless hours perfecting sports videos (Football, bowling, swimming, etc.) for the school. I would love to continue with film in college and beyond, and I figured any camera I may upgrade to would last a long time. Any recommendations?

Stick with the t3i, install magic lantern, get some better glass + tripod + glidecam + mic, etc. Don't pour money into a new body when you already have equipment that can easily suit your needs. Some of the best edits on NS have been filmed with a t3i (or another Canon camera with the same sensor).

Thanks for the advice! I am actually now using magic lantern, a glidecam, and a rode mic. Very excited to get to use it all this winter! I'm also hoping to get the Tokina 11-16mm in the next month or so...

What do you want that the t3i isn't giving you?

better image quality (higher dynamic range)
better low light capability
higher frame rates
higher resolution
higher color bit depth
better color sampling
better recording codec
professional audio options

Are you looking for a camera to do both stills and video or just video?

You need to think about the reasons you need to upgrade from your current camera package.

From what you've said it doesn't seem like you need to upgrade at this point. I'm not saying you shouldn't, but you can still learn a lot with a t3i and produce quality work.

If you go with a gh4 (or any camera with another lens mount or 4K), you are looking at a solid investment, with new lenses, batteries, accessories. I dont suggest getting an EF to m4/3 adapter for the lens you already have, especially if you want to shoot 4k. The canon 18-55mm kit lens will not handle 4k well.

Id say save your money and keep shooting with your t3i until you actually feel limited by it. Youre on the right track, get an 11-16 and then looking into other lenses, a good tripod, etc upgrading the body wont exactly help you right now.
