Skier of the Year voting is open now. Really cool to see so many urban skiers getting recognition as nominees. So hyped to see LSM up on there, he really deserves it between his unreal segment in Less and his perfect contribution to Finess that was released for free. So of course he got my first vote.
The way I think about voting is that I'm giving money to people that I think deserve it or can do the most with it. Not sure what sort of leverage SOTY has with sponsors but I imagine the winner can use it to squeeze a little more travel budget from someone, or maybe pick up some new sponsor they didn't have.
Comp skiers are great and all, but any of the olympic medalists probably got a decent chunk of cash for that and can live with out this title. People with energy drink sponsors, especially red bull, will get by this winter without winning this. BC skiers aren't what I relate to right now so i didn't vote for them, exception being that Parker and C-Lo are deserving for what they gave us this winter with "The Big Picture"
So another thing that earns my vote are people that are giving us content that is amazing. Thats the biggest factor for me.
