is there anything worse than automatic drivers who coast through parking lots, or other places? Just the speed that keeps you from fully popping the clutch and going into first...so you just clutch and gas and clutch and gas and ride the clutch and gas....hating them.

I drove my manual jetta throughout NYC all summer. Ridiculous traffic everyday and it wasn't that bad.

I think that's the only time I've ever wished I had an auto. I have long motherfuckin legs. I've stuck my legs out the window to stretch in traffic before.
I drive a 2001 BMW 325xi. Its got 230,000 kms. It should have a 6th gear but if it did I would probably get pulled over for speeding every time I get on a highway. Manual AWD is the greatest thing to happen in Canada since maple syrup.
I drive a straight-piped 5-Speed Impreza 2.2L, topped off with this ridiculous Rastafari paint job. Shit's got like 140k miles, and we've had to do a few things to maje er roadworthy, like a clutch replacement, a timing belt, 2 new radiators (the first one exploded in the school parking lot when one of my fans inexplicably stopped working, the fuse was blown out 3 times in one week, we ignored it, and it has happened again since). Luckily all this shit was inexpensive to fix since two of my dad's employees are mechanics.
Honestly, when I was younger, like around 16, I thought I would never drive a standard car ever. It wasn't until I actually starter getting behind the wheel of an automatic that I realized I couldn't do it. I dunno what it is, maybe my brain just can't handle that lack of stimulus, but a lot of the time I'd find that my mind would blank and I would do dumb shit like run stop signs. After all that, it didn't take me long to figure out that standard is the way for me to go.

It was pretty important to me to get a manual for my first car but I don't think I would care that much about it if I were to get a new car now. I still prefer driving a manual but it can be pretty nice to drive an auto when you just need to get from a to b
I wish I could get a standard. Save money, more fun, but unfortunately I commute through stop and go traffic to work so not going to put myself through that. I used to have a mitsubishi station wagon from like 96 that was a death trap but fun to drive.

2001 Subaru outback limited edition. Rolling with those heated seats and moon roof mutha fuckas. 199,970 miles. Already replaced the head gaskets so it should role for another few thousand miles.

Thanks. I actually got the idea from a guy who did this to a Sporty. It was evil looking. You run the clutch cable up the shifter arm so the clutch lever is on the grip. Pretty fun way to ride.

The thing rips in the snow. Its insane. Plowed through 5 foot tall snowbanks last winter and that was with bald tires. It also kills it on the trails. Throw it into 4 wheel drive low range and it is unstoppable.
It isn't the most comfy ride on the streets but its worth it.
saab c900 5 speed - trans made of glass, but still original at 185,000ish
volvo 780 b230ft - auto aw72 - definitely a bit boring with auto but the 5 speed trans from volvos are made of glass as well so fuck it. We'll see if I can source a t5 trans for it at some point
2000 Honda Accord sedan, 2.3l, 5 speed, 160xxx miles
The difference between the auto and the manual is night and day, my friend drives an auto and it is one of the dullest car's I have ever driven. The 2.3l is nice and grumbly, it is relatively light and nimble, and it is a fucking blast to drive. I've learned to do pretty good slides on ice in it. It has shitty all seasons on it, and zero traction control so snow driving on city streets is all up to the driver to get it going, but it's still manageable. It does however get bogged down quite a bit when its loaded up with 5 people or its at really high elevation.
also has a ski pole shifter and racing stripes for the extra hp

yeah of course, im all about having fun with a car. you have an awesome opportunity with that thing, so do whatever you want with it.
just keep in mind theres a difference between a cool car and something an 11 year old would make in need for speed
1999 dodge dakota sport, 5.2L v8, 5spd manual transmission , 4x4, 110,000 miles on her and she runs very good and is quite quick with the 5.2 L v8 with the manual transmission ( and a few small mods , intake exhaust etc . 33 inch maxis bighorn studs. great small/midsize truck with the 5.2l that came out of the full size ram 1500 and 2500 , and they stuffed it in a small / midsize truck that weighs over a ton less than the 1500 full size trucks that had that same engine choice.
the dakota my daily driver , my other truck, which i use only for work and for hauling things for friends from time to time. but ya my other truck , my work truck is a 2003 dodge 2500 4x4 long box , with the high output (H.O. ) cummins diesel and six speed manual transmission . the 2003 H.O. cummins is such a great engine and came stock with no cat , and so it was only available in 47 states at the time because the emissions were too high for some states ( like california for example ). but i live in montana so i had no problems , and she only has 100,000 miles on her, witch is not bad for a truck with a cummins cause they last soo damn long and are hard to kill. unless you dont take care of your vehicles, other than that with the high output Cummins with the 6 spd manual trany is a great combo. and she is almost all stock, only mods i have or need are an cold air intake , no catalytic converter ( came stock with no cat) , and a real nice aftermarket exhaust. no tuners or anything like that on my cummins , i want mine to last forever , witch they do, especially when you keep em mostly stock and if you dont run any crazy power adders like chips, wacky custom tunes, etc.
and finally, i have my " project truck", witch is a 1984 power ram w150, 4x4, long box with the short cab, she has a 5.9 L, 4 barrel "heavy duty "v8 , with the prospect edition with custom paint and pin stripes. she is auto matic unfortunately , but has the 727 3 speed automatic witch is a very durable and highly respected tranny. wish she was a manual, but it does have the extremely durable 727 auto tranny , witch is not only a highly respected tranny , but a highly sout after one as well. and she is an '84 and she only has 88,000 miles on her, ( was my grandpas truck ) . i am planning on fixing her up , to make it look like a brand new truck that came off the assembly line . so not building a monster, just guna fix her up to OEM specifications , then sell her down the road after i get done making her a new truck. once i do that tho, im guna sell it , no manual, no go in my book. even tho she has a very good tranny, its still an automatic , and in my opinion trucks should be manual, or maybe im just crazy but i dislike auto trucks, thats why im selling this one. just dont feel right driving around in an auto matic pickup, since i have never had a car or truck with an auto. had suv's witch were auto ma-tics ( 1999 dodge durango 5.9 v8 which i sold , and she had 230,000 miles, all original , and i sold her with 230k and i see the dude who i sold it to driving around almost every week, at least once a week, and she just lasted that long with nothing but normal service etc. ) but ya manuals are the shit, to bad every year they get more rare with all these crazy 8 speed autos coming out etc.
TL; DR - manual transmissions are the shit. especially in trucks , where i think they belong.

i drive a lot. daily commute to burnaby and back, 5-6 days a week. friends living all over the city, enjoying driving as much as i can. it adds up pretty quick ahha
