Topsheet damage/repair

Generally topsheet chipping is cosmetic and won't affect the long term durability of your skis. Also, with brand new skis, the edges are very sharp and from personal experience having build thousands of skis at this point, topsheet chipping due to edge damage is far worse in the first 3-5 days when edges are sharp from the factory vs the chipping you see after some use when the edges have worn down a bit (and, even with our skis, this applies even though we put a complete detune on every pair we put out). Do remember we are talking about a hard steel edge against a plastic topsheet here, so when push comes to show, the edge will win every time.

From the look of it, you should be able to bevel that topsheet edge more, which will decrease the amount of chipping.

always hurts a bit to see that first scratch. at least it wasn't a core shot...

It's inevitable that your top sheet will chip, especially if you are bashing them together on rails in the air doing mutes and blunt grabs etc. Personally I think the only time the chips are worth worrying about is if they are deep enough that they have revealed the wooden core of the ski.

Honestly the dings you have there are purely cosmetic and if they were my skis and I was going to use them for park a lot of the time I wouldn't have even bothered to do anything about them. Focus more on the condition of the base and edges than the top sheet because they will actually effect the performance of the ski depending on their condition.

The way I look at top sheet chips is as if they were battle scars, so wear them with pride. The more you have of them the more you throw down and try shit, if you ride around on perfect skis all the time it means either you are ski jesus and land everything perfectly or you're not trying hard enough.

I would never take a pair of new skis as expensive as kitten factories out into my back yard in the first place. thats what your old skis are for.

I just buy used skis so I dont cry when they get beat up

Gonna get beat up sooner or later. Might as well just take to the backyard for some small jibbing where topsheet damage won't be as bad as on the hill.
