This thing is gonna be epic. Checked, and my work doesnt block, will be tuning in.

Found another site for a stream that seems like theyre doing some more coverage. On mobile so not sure if link will be clicky.

They only had like 2.5k d/v in the ship. To do that all with gravity assists is crazy.

also IT LANDED!1!1!

harpoon and the rockets to keep it on the surface didnt fire but it's apparently still on the ground. Pictures soon I hope.

It took 10 years for Rosetta to reach the comet!

"The comet seems to be emitting a 'song' in the form of oscillations in the magnetic field in the comet's environment," the ESA says. "It is being sung at 40-50 millihertz, far below human hearing, which typically picks up sound between 20 Hz and 20 kHz. To make the music audible to the human ear, the frequencies have been increased by a factor of about 10,000."

I misinformed everyone. But if you click the link above and go back to aboud 3:05 on the time into the stream you can see when they announced it. Pretty awesome, couldn't help but smile the entire time they were reporting a safe landing.

there was a ksp thread a week ago. it's a game where you make space ships and planes and fly them. if you want it dont get it from steam, get it from their website so you have easier access to all the files. it's out for windows, osx, and linux.

Be prepared to be sucked in lol. At first you'll be like this is too hard I can't even get into orbit. Then you'll try and go to the moon. then the moon and back. and it might take awhile to get it right. At night you'll be thinking... what if I did it this way... yeah...

The sound is the frequency of the magnetic field or solar wind/particles or something, altered so you can hear it and played through your speakers as a waveform. Read that earlier today.

There's no sound in space guys... Short of something striking whatever craft you/your detector is in and transferring sound that way.

Not really. There's no medium to transmit it from the comet to your detector (mic) form a distance. Sound needs a medium to travel, and won't travel in the vacuum of space.

If the ice flew into your ship and the sound traveled through your ship to your detector then you'd hear it. Or if you were otherwise touching whatever generates the sound, then it could be transmitted.
