BombogenesisLol.. I am not saying to go on a starvation diet. Weight loss WILL happen if calories in < calories out. It's proven biological science.
The calories in / calories out model is completely broken. There are massive differences in what calories you put in your body, and what fat storage hormones they trigger. Eating low carb or low glycemic can allow you to keep calories way up yet still burn fat.
As well, cardio doesn't do squat for fat burning. Running an entire marathon only burns about one big mac worth of calories. I don't doubt that it is amazing for your cardiovascular system. On the other hand, doing anaerobic exercise raises your resting calorie burn, and makes it much easier to burn through those calories - even if you're going with the calorie in/calorie out Model.
Diet is key. Sure you can blast it all away with exercise, but if you want to lose mega fat or get absolutely fucking shredded then it must be a combo.
If you want a quick and dirty decent read on this stuff, check out the 4 hour body by Tim Ferriss.

There is no such thing as simply eating 'healthy'. You need to break down the science of what happens when certain foods enter your body, as well as how different types of exercise affect it. Then you can do whatever you want.
