Hey guys, stoked to be editing some skiing again. Decided to put this together since I've been slacking on it, would love to hear anything positive/negative comments about the video, enjoy!

Thought the overall edit was pretty sick.

Although I feel that your use of the word "enjoy" in the title doesn't really flow with the overall flat/desaturated look of the video. It's not that you did the colour in a distasteful way; it's actually really well done, and the colours match throughout the entire video. However, I feel in the instance of this edit, an increase in saturation would give the edit a better feel.

You also use slow motion more than a 12 year old with a GoPro /s

Sounds were on point as always.

I didn't really correlate the title with the video much, which I understand why people would would feel the way you do, but I thought of the name while I was making it and left it. I didnt wanna call it "some of my favorite" or "action reel" or whatever, I just tried something different and stuck with it. IMO one of the hardest things for me is being too cliche and I just tried to break out a but.

As for the slow motion part, can you explain this to me? To me, I used slow motion effectively in areas where it looked the best. I had plenty of full speed shots and every slow motion shot was carefully ramped to how I specifically thought would flow with the sound and music. I think describing that as how a 12 year old with a gopro edits is appalling. Now Im not trying to be defensive, expect hate/harsh criticism, I ask for it, but I'd like you to explain your point of view on this matter.

Haha it was just a little sarcasm. You did the slow motion in a very tasteful way. The ramping and audio was all synced up which was very noticeable and added appeal to the video.

i also didnt really like the slow mo and in this there was a lot of it. but sometimes it was just painfully slow. Other than that I think you did a great job of using it when appropriate but I think the ratio of slow mo shots to full speed shots was off. but thats just my opinon

I don't see the point of asking for feedback, because everybody has different tastes, and likes different styles of videos. To me, the video was solid, clean, and grabbed my attention. I really liked the color correction how it was desaturated and the audio was phenomenal!

Of course but it doesn't mean I don't want to hear what people have to say. I don't know what everyone wants to see, I put something out I like and thats why i ask for love or hate.

sick. first time I've liked odesza in a park edit.

that being said, is this in 23.976? in parts it seems to glitch/stutter, particularly from 0:41. thought that seemed a little unprofessional.

I am not a huge fan of this feel for ski edits, too much slow mo, too much trying to make it real dramatic (maybe not the right word). Everything from the font of the title, the low saturation, the mega mo, and the Evan Heath Visuals Presents.

The days of Fuck! were the days of Evan Heaths work that I enjoyed the most.

Well done Evan! Overall though it was great. Although i thought it lacked in the editing. I was not drawn in. I felt almost bored with the edit. The shots were good the sound was great... but the edit just flatlined for me. It was all dull from the coloring to the song. I thought the slomo was a little to long on some parts. All in all it just did not excite me!

But that being said great work. I think the shots were verry good and the audio was crisp as can be. Overall great work. I hope this does not seem to negative.... your a talented kid!

On other note I really enjoyed the edit. I felt like the editing was something abstract and different from what we normally see out of an edit which made it very unique.

I'm picking up what you're putting down. I was happy with the result but in reality I made this edit for myself to share with others, so I guess im not surprised if some people disliked it and some didnt. definitely a niche style.

Overall really sick dude! Composition, sound, and color are all super impressive.

The slow-mo was high quality and timed well. However I tend to agree that you over use it. In this ADD world that we live in, less is more. In shots like the 180 tail press, try not to start the ramp until he actually starts to press. The shots are sick, but you don't need to highlight mediocre actions with super slow-mo (like the run in to a jump.)

Also, the two shots starting at :45 didn't feel consistent with the quality of the rest of the edit. The shot at 1:16 needs to be cut down too. Slow-mo glide of a wallride isn't super appealing until a skier is in the mix.

Just my 2 cents. Keep killin it!

So I must say that upon each watching I seem to like this edit more and more. I've probably watched it about 6 times at this point. The opening shot to me is money. I love it. I think you killed it on the colors and the vibe of this edit. The song is perfect and flows well. This may be a niche style, but it's one I can definitely enjoy. I think the slow mo was properly used. I would recommend less slow mo on some of the follow ups to the actual skier doing the trick. This is more evident as an issue to me during some of the rail tricks. The only other critique i would present is I think it would be very cool at the end when you have your website text out what fi the skier passed in the forefront and it was in the background. (I hope that makes sense haha.) Anyways you killed it man. Keep up the good work!

Really enjoyed the feel and flow of the shots and sound together. Color was very appealing aswell.

If you don't mind, what frame rate do you shoot at for the slow mo, and what kind of mic do you use to accieve the sharp audio. Thanks

I figured stating it as an opinion vs a statement it wouldn't sound cocky or douchy.

Thanks man!

All of the super slomo stuff is 240fps and some is just 60.

As for a mic I'm just using a shotgun mic with a deadcat. I do alot of work on my audio in post but the key is a deadcat.

Agreed on the title but I mean that is something that is an easy fix.

I thought the tripod shots were spot on. I am personally kind of sick of seeing glidecam edits all the time because it has been really overused lately. That being said, when you did use the glidecam it looked like you had a long lense/zoomed in on some shots which gave it a more dramatic feel.

One of the better shots in the edit I think, was when you were approaching the wallride. I was expecting the skier to come into the frame on the left and I thought you were going to miss the shot, but then skier comes in on right side of the frame and when you are skiing down after he lands you get a real nice foreground with the wall of snow. I know that might not have been all planned, but it looked great.
