So Im trying to watch footage that I got today and take screenshots for instagram, but the playback is really poor quality for screenshots. I've tried settings and google but there is nothing. So how do I improve the playback resolution for quicktime player on a Macbook Pro? +K for help

You can use Imovie to grab individual frames. Go to the point you want a pic from, right click, select "create freeze frame" or "add freeze frame" (cant remember exactly without opening it up. After this you can right click on the freeze frame that is added at the end of the clip and select "show in finder." This will locate the JPEG image for you in finder. Just about the best way Ive found to get good stills from video, as it will take the full resolution that you shot the video in. Hope that helped!

You can use after effects to do like a frame blending effect, it's usually used for slomo, it merges frames into eachother to make the transitions smoother, could try to do that and screenshot it. You can use i think cmd+shift+4 (or three not sure) to screenshot a particular area on a mac btw

Its not your computer, its your footage. Sounds like maybe it was shakey? Or low shutter speed? What camera are you shooting with? Example footage?
