Adobe premiere pro IMO is the way to go, every larger production company is using it, might as well learn what the best use.

If you really wanna buy it, students can get a creative cloud membership for like $10 for a single program or like $30 for the suite per month.

Its also pretty easy to get for free if you search google/youtube.

I'm finally looking at making the transition from fcp to premier. How hard is it to learn?

i haven't made the switch but in film class at my school thats what we use and its not too bad. youtube and google are your friends
