Adobe premiere pro IMO is the way to go, every larger production company is using it, might as well learn what the best use.

If you really wanna buy it, students can get a creative cloud membership for like $10 for a single program or like $30 for the suite per month.

Its also pretty easy to get for free if you search google/youtube.
