What's your problem Ft. Lauderdale?

So a 90 year dude has been cited twice this week for feeding the homeless and could face fines and jail time. Apparently he's been feeding the homeless in the city since the 1991, but Ft. Lauderdale recently passed some new rules about public food sharing. Surely they've got more pressing issues to deal with than an old man helping some people out...

Ft Lauderdale is about as bad as anywhere. My 3 siblings went to school there and I always went to visit them and hated every second of every trip. Florida fucking sucks and Ft Lauderdale sucks even more

That's pretty much what I've gathered over the years. I know a ton of people who always want to go down there for winter vacations, but it has absolutely no appeal to me.

I'm not old, an illegal Cuban immigrant or a crazy swamp hillbilly. Does anyone else live in Florida?

it's got some pretty awesome scuba diving....but other than that, it's too fucking hot.

i disagree with people giving them money obviously, but sometimes ill give leftovers from cooking school that i don't want to people on the street. I've never been homeless but i still know how much it sucks not to be able to afford food.

I just moved down to Fort Lauderdale from Steamboat, CO, and it's different to say the least. I am having a lot of fun doing stuff I never got to do in CO, like wakeboard, scuba dive, deep sea fish, etc. I'm gonna try to pick up some kiteboarding gear too sometime in the near future. Having a boat makes Florida a lot better.

Everyone on this thread is hating so hard on Florida and most of you haven't even been down here. It's really not that bad at all, and it's far from "the most miserable place ever." It's a whole fucking lot better than Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, and all those shit states that are filled with corn fields and tornadoes. I'd rather live in Fort Lauderdale than a lot of places in the US.

Sorry for the triple post. But you just sound like a closed minded asshole. It's really not that hard to enjoy yourself for a week at the beach if you don't go into it with such a shitty attitude. If you say fuck this, I refuse to have any fun, I'm just gonna bitch about Florida and how much it sucks and not make any attempt to have a good time, then you're most likely not going to have a good time. That applies to going anywhere really, not just Florida.

Go to florida as a 15 year old to visit your siblings who are in dental school and have zero tome to do anything besides study. My experiences in florida were miserable. I go back like every year to Melbourne to visit my nieces and its better now because i can use one of my brothers cars and im not in fort lauderdale.

I can almost garuantee i have been to more parts of the state than you. I used to go there just to help move furniture. Ive probably flown across the country to Florida 50 times in the past 13 years. By in large its a shit hole full of miserable people.

You don't have to be rich to have a boat.. we just have a basic used 20ft center console. I'm buying kiteboarding gear with money I made working last summer. No need to be a dick about it.

I completely agree that a large part of the state is a shithole, but a lot of people in this thread are just generalizing the whole of Florida to be the same, and that's simply not true. If you've been "more parts of the state than me" and since you're apparently so well traveled, you should know that places like Gainesville, Tallahassee, and northern/central Florida literally have no resemblance to any part of south Florida.

Sounds like you need to hang out with some better people when you come down here though, as I haven't really met anyone that I can describe as "miserable."

Last time i landed in orlando i saw a lady full on slap her like 7 year old son and tell him to shut the fuck up. I see this type of shit all the time down there. I have never seen anything like this in oregon.

Im not just on a hate bandwagon...i hate it from my experiences there. Only thing that doesnt suck is my brother and his family. Everything else can go to hell

But im only 85% my dads going to be living in ft lauderdale. He's been looking at house all over the eastern/ southern part.

He's just waiting to see where his job is.

i really don't blame ft lauderdale for trying to push the homeless out. portland has a ton of social services available for the homeless (no matter what the reason) so they flock here and massively fuck shit up.

just last month two homeless men stripped a couple naked, then robbed them, oh and then stabbed the husband. neato.
