pretty sure the comp skiers are still the comp skiers and the guys that do it for the camera are still doing it for the camera.

the olympics brought more coverage into the ski world. sure there's going to be some changes but does skiing suck now? i don't think so. not sure about you but i still go about skiing exactly like i did before the olympics so in my mind nothing changed.

all i really saw were some guys that are primarily film skiers piss and moan that it would ruin the sport.

Did it change the sport? Are there bigger prize purses in the comps this year? More or less comps on the pro tour? Did any film companies lose riders last year due to competition?

After about a month 'wu tang is for the children' went quiet, skiers weren't on talk shows anymore, and just like after every olympics, the general public has forgotten, moved on, and don't actually care. Who won second place in men's skiing half pipe? Ask that to someone in the city who doesn't ski - hell, they probably don't even remember who took the gold.

Maybe there's a bit more sponsorship from outside the sport, and maybe a handful of people got into park skiing after the Olympics that wouldn't have otherwise, but really though, has anything actually changed in a real way?

A solid quote to throw in is "Wu Tang is for the children". That changed skiing quite a bit honesty. It really showed how laid back skiing is and chill Harlaut was even at one of the highest stages in skiing.

I myself think it changed skiing to the worse. It portrayed that skiing is all about making it to the olympics and going for the quad or whatever it is. While I see it as a fun time having a nice laid back day in your small home park with some friends.

The Olympics didn't do shit for the core of the sport. We're on our own. However, it created an ultra-polished part of it that fits into the same mould as racing, classic freestyle, biathalon, etc. Parents love it, the world loves it.

Don't get me wrong, the Olympics slopestyle was an incredible contest. However it was a contest, and the entire system breeds contest skiers. If you're into contests then great. If you're into watching Backcountry and street shit, then the Olympics did nothing but suck a bunch of money out of that side to sponsor the Olympic teams.

The big corporate dollars aren't lasting. They were here for the Olympics and then they're gone... except against the next Olympics.
