AT-ATLet me put a wrench in this. Why is government involved in marriage at all?
JAHpowBecause marriage is a binding agreement recognized by the law.
mirozWhy should the government care who is getting married?
DingoSeanBetter question. Why would anyone care about anyone else's marriage or sex life except their own? Who cares if the guys down the street lick each others assholes..? Are they coming up to your asshole and licking it? If not, then who cares.
People are way way way too scared of gays for some reason and I find it downright hilarious.
anyway... so that whole politics thing. I'm just wondering if this Tea Party republican congress even knows how to lead a congress in the first place - so far for the last decade or so they've just been the punkass in the back of the room shooting spitballs at the kids in front. Now that they've been called to the board, I guess we'll see if they can even do anything positive, or if they're just going to keep trying to fuck with Obamacare.

ScaredwhiteboyThe issue at hand is not that gays have a union of some sort with each other. If they want to put rings on their fingers and announce to the world that they lick each other's assholes, they can. However, the relationship they have is not marriage because marriage is the union of one man and one woman.
BombogenesisLooks like there are some SICK sources when you google "interstate crosscheck", by the way. LOL
toastyteenagerswhy does any thread that talks about religion or politics end in multiple pages of arguments, butthurt, and bans?
Huck_NorrisI want to know what the hardline republicans think about how the republican agenda has negatively affected Kansas- the most complete modern showing of what republicans are touting as 'the future of prosperity and policy in America'. Anyone with the least bit of understanding or even awareness of these practices being put in place and the disastrous circumstances they've created should be able to see they're not good for anyone! Kansas just got fucked to the tune of billions on top of billions and nobody is talking about it. Why?? If this policy was enacted on a National scale, it would push us straight into a depression of epic proportions- and through no fault of industry or bubble- but of paid bribes from captains of industry who would benefit directly from labor laws akin to that of the turn of the 19th century.
So seriously, I want to know- how do you feel about backing the Libertarian agenda from the early 80s rehashed as a nationalistic xenophobia campaign and laying it out as a valid stance for those who can't be bothered to understand the most basic premises of economics or policy? That's literally exactly what the modern Republican agenda is and it's fucking embarrassing. So tell me- what is it about Kansas- or any of their agendas really- that makes you think this will work on a national level? I want to know.
.frenchyYeah, I know its a bad example, but that's just showing town by town which is republican or democrat, that's alot of red towns... You can always expect a large city to vote Democrat. Small town, hardworking people will most likely vote republicans, and the food stamp lovin city thugs will continue to vote blue #tru
AT-ATLet me put a wrench in this. Why is government involved in marriage at all?
milk_manThat argument never works. If you can apply that argument to gay marriage you should be able to apply it to anything.
Why would anyone care about someone else's sexual abuse? Who cares if the guys down the street sexually abuse people..? Are they coming up to you and sexually abusing you? If not, then who cares.
fujaromebecause sexual abuse is taking away someone else's rights. And furthermore, the offender might continue and abuse more people
whereas if the gay couple down the block get married, it literally has no impact on your life or your rights. You have not been deprived nor robbed of anything. And similarly, the gay couple is not going to suddenly start coming down the street, forcing everyone else into an unwilling gay marriage.
Unlike a sexual offender, no gay person will ever drag you down a dark alleyway and marry you.
mirozSays who? A book? A group of people who believe something? What if a different group of people who believes something else says otherwise? Why is one right and one wrong?
commence derail.
milk_manFair argument. But where does one gain the moral knowledge to know that gay marriage is morally correct and sexual abuse is morally wrong?

ScaredwhiteboySays me. That's how I define marriage, and it's how I think the government should define marriage.
Marriage is supposed to be a sacred, inviolable union. When you let people who are no more than good friends with sick pleasures call their relationship "marriage" you devalue the union of everybody else.
mirozSays you? Ha! No one gives a fuck what you say. The fact of the matter is that you like what you've been given and don't want other people to have it. You're entitled to your opinion but when it comes down to it you're doing no more than dictating what people can and can't do, and that's not how civil rights work. What you're proposing is not fair and certainly not representative of a conservative government.
ScaredwhiteboyNo, I like what I've been given, and I don't want other people to ruin it. Don't pretend like this is a civil right's issue. Gays can still gargle each other's cum as much as they want. To have the government call your relationship with your fuck buddy "marriage" is the furthest thing imaginable from a civil right. Saying you have a civil right to have the government recognize your marriage is like saying you have a civil right for the government to recognize that you have a big penis. It's absolutely asinine.
I have no problem with the government giving gays exactly equal rights as normal people (which they currently do). However, calling the relationship between them marriage when they're really just severely perverted best friends is an insult to every loving normal couple.
milk_manBecause most of the time the girl is legally changing her last name, and back in the day it used to be a huge deal when a man and a woman started living together. Now it hardly means anything.

.frenchyIm against gay marriage because I can be. Simple as that.
downrate me... boo hoo, that'll really show me! maybe i'll even change my mind and turn into a gay!

You will say that one of those is right and one of those is wrong, but what do you even base your morality off of..? Laws? Do you really trust the government that much?
J.D.Rand Paul and Jeb Bush sound like bad ideas, though Jeb wins Florida for you.

RachyLet's just do everything the bible says and then beating your wives will be totally acceptable. Let's bring back slaves as well.
*CUMMINGS*"The Bible says so" is not a logical argument unless you truly subscribe to everything it says. Those who wrote it almost certainly had the survival of the human race (via patriarchal systems) as their goal, which is inherently oppressive, but I think they'd be pretty offended if you told them you are shellfish and that you don't stone adulterers, among other things.
Frenchy, your jokes about 'becoming a gay' are incredibly transparent to anybody. Why people who engage in same-sex intercourse scare you so much, I don't know, but I can tell you that fear is as far from rational as one can go.
toastyteenagerswhy does any thread that talks about religion or politics end in multiple pages of arguments, butthurt, and bans?
milk_manBecause everyones conscience is screaming at them to defend their beliefs that basically make their world go round
.frenchyWell here's some good news from Fox News' twitter:
Federal appeals court upholds gay marriage bans in four states
#StepInTheRightDirection #AdamAndEveNotAdamAndSTEVE !!!! #ICanHashTagTooDingo
milk_manApparently you don't understand the gospel and how it plays in.
Ten commandments man. That's all. According to the Bible, being gay is a sexual sin(adultery) and making people think its okay by calling it 'marriage' has always been COMPLETELY unheard of. Because the world used to not be morally relative.
JenniferGarnerAlso, Republican-loyal NSers, why haven't you addressed this post yet? Is it because its based on logic and reasoning? Or is it because whenever trickle-down economics and less government funding in the form of cuts towards education and other public service efforts is introduced it has time and time again proven to be fucking idiotic? Is it too hard of a truth to face because you're too blinded by your party's color or are you really this ignorant to the world around you? I think its a combo of both.

Huck_NorrisIt's because they want to bicker about licking assholes, birth control and blast immigrants and they have no idea what they're actually supposed to be talking about- and that's that the modern "republican" (and by that I mean Libertarian) economic agenda is a fucking kamikaze dollar ride into bedrock plain and simple.
I want ONE "republican" to tell me how Kansas and their current economic disaster bodes well if this were to be enacted on a national scale. Please. If you actually give a fuck and aren't just some cunt regurgitating shit on the internet TELL ME HOW THAT WILL SUDDENLY WORK!! Stop bickering about gay this and black that you motherfucking whiners, YOU ARE ALL THE PROBLEM RIGHT NOW! Get over it and see the real issues. Don't even let yourself get sucked into the wedge issue and lose sight of the real deal... Unless that's all you've got and your argument has no backbone beyond philosophical application of moral issues, in which case fuck you back to your hole in front of some talking heads where all your prejudices can be wrapped up in a nice package you can feel good about.
*CUMMINGS*You're doing better than Frenchy at constructing a coherent argument, so you've got that going for you.
There's nothing in the Ten Commandments about homosexuality, probably because, at the time it was written, homosexuality was really not considered all that bad. Your entire argument stems from a single passage in Leviticus, which is followed by one that basically amounts to saying "don't eat shellfish".
milk_manApparently you don't understand the gospel and how it plays in.
Ten commandments man. That's all. According to the Bible, being gay is a sexual sin(adultery) and making people think its okay by calling it 'marriage' has always been COMPLETELY unheard of. Because the world used to not be morally relative.
JenniferGarnerI think its because the Republican party only attracts ignorant, gay bashing xenophobes/racists... under the guise of protecting "American" and their religious values. Leave it to the religious to try to act like they're being victimized or that they're under attack when they're the most dominant segment in the country. Its pathetic and when it comes to actually addressing the issues, the ones who declare themselves as staunch Republicans ignore it to the point of even discounting one of the most legitimate news sources in the world (Al Jazeera)... probably because it sounds "Muslimy". Its honestly sad how hard the party devotees are trying to ignore how fucked up the party is they're blindly supporting.
I wonder how many of them will read this and think I'm a Democrat... another example of how stupid you have to be to line yourself with the Republican party.
AT-ATYes, you may be right.
I Think it's because the Democratic party only attracts the lazy, the minorities, the poor, and those blind to the system of how things come to be created.... under the guise of protecting "each other" and their social values. Leave it to the moochers to try to act like they're being victimized or that they're under attack when they hold the same voting power in the country. Its pathetic and when it comes to actually addressing the issues, the ones who declare themselves staunch Democrats ignore it to the point of even discounting any news source that does not agree with their point of views....probably because it sounds to "wealthy." Its honestly sad how hard the party devotees are trying to ignore how fucked up the party is they're blindly supporting.
I wonder how many of them will read this and think I'm a Republic... another example of how stupid you have to be to line yourself with the Democratic party.
milk_manIt isn't mentioned directly in the ten commandments but since homosexuality is considered adultery and an abomination in the Bible puts it under commandment 7. "You shall not commit adultery."
