pussyfooterJust saw it in IMAX...
Well that was awesome. I need to see it again and Im sure a bunch of shit will fall into place, very great film, very christopher nolan, I imagine Interstellar 2 will happen, who knows what the name will be or the time period but a prequel and sequel are basically set up perfectly.
JAHpowI don't think Nolan can top this with a prequel or a sequel. Therefore I don't think there will be any more of this, and I hope there won't be either. It was done perfectly, expanding on it would ruin it.
theBearJewWhen Cooper is in that 4th dimension thing where hes sending gravity to Murph to let her know how to solve shit he starts talking about how HE was them and how there is no they, WE, humans, are they but in the future. He goes on to talk about how somehow in the future we learned to use this 4th dimension and build this crazy thing. Now that is where I don't get it, but I guess thats the conundrum with time travel. If you are saying "Weve done this already in the future" how did we get there in the first place? It would appear that the only way to get to that other habitable planet and save the current human race would be to get them all somewhere new. And the only way to do that is send gravity through this 4th dimension that was built but humans to the current time. Now how could we build something in the future the first time if we needed that to get there in the first place? (If anyone follows that I will be impressed. I feel like it only makes sense in my head).

beantownsmugglerAlso, do you think NASA would accept black hole volunteers? If I'm 90 years old and on my last leg, I would be more than happy to be the space monkey that gets shot off into a black hole just to see what happens. What a way to go out that would be haha.

JAHpowWell we already know what sorta happens. The side of you closest to the hole gets pulled more than the opposite side and then it basically disassembles you atom by atom. In the simplest of terms you get pulled apart.
beantownsmugglerIt sounds crazy but I've seen it 3 times already. I can't get enough of this flick, especially in IMAX, its amazing. Still, after 3 times, it's just as good and keeps you on your toes in terms of trying to grasp everything that's going on. I think it's important to point out McConaughey too, that dude absolutely killed it in that movie, superb acting. Really stoked to add this to the blu ray collection.
And yeah, I can definitely see a sequel happening. I'm usually against sequels because I think stupid movies get drawn out these days, but this one is definitely justified and would be awesome to see.
Evan, did you go see it in 70mm? The IMAX I saw it in was incredibly cool. Tempur-pedic seats that rumbled, insane sound...It felt like a flight simulator at times. This movie was meant for IMAX for sure.
ThamitchmanGoing to see this Friday with some friends blazed out of our minds. Good idea or nah?

MicroMixThe movie was fucking sweet, anyone think the entire Matt Damon thing was totally pointless though? The Endurance could have been hit by space debris and damaged it instead of all the BS with Dr. Mann mutinying them on the planet and crashing. This would also shorten up the movie which, in my opinion, was a tad bit long.
C_DowdI personally thought this was an important part of the movie. It was more than just a creative way to destroy the ship. It was a way to show what kind of extreme lengths someone will go to for survival, which was a major theme of the entire movie.
Also if you were in the same position as Mann, do you think that you could resist the urge to push that button in the face of death.
ImmasYeah, I think Mann's part represented out desire to survive, and the desperation we face. Was it a bit played out? Yes, but I think that part was important.
beantownsmugglerI think Damon's role was crucial. It gave us a taste of the evil/cowardice side of mankind. I would even go as far to say that they named his character "Mann" for a reason...He epitomizes what brought humans to that point in the first place; selfishness.
ThamitchmanGoing to see this Friday with some friends blazed out of our minds. Good idea or nah?
ImmasOh his name is so important. "Mann" represents the darker, survival part of mankind. It's no accident they chose that name.
theBearJewI thought it was necessary to have. Especially after Anne Hathaway went on her talk about Evil. I can't remember exactly what she said but it was along the lines of we arent brining evil with us, blah blah blah. Then Damon was evil.
SKI.INGOkay, once again, I believe you have that part wrong. She says that the only evil in space is what they (humans) bring with them. That is the whole point of that exchange. It doesn't make sense the way you are saying it.
theBearJewI'm sure im wrong. But whatever, when I go to see it again in IMAX I will pay close attention tot that scene.
MLBSaw it in IMAX last night. It's fucking awesome. If you don't like it it's because your an art house bitch, or you like your movies with tons of explosions and superheroes.
The sound track was epic, the visuals were stunning, and I just loved how it all tied together.
It is probably the only movie I've ever seen where it's worth the 20 bucks to go see it in IMAX.
General_RipperI thought the acting was meh. But it would be difficult to get into character for this movie. Overall I was entertained.
Best space movie is still 2001 Space Odyssey.
lukemeahan.THIS. i saw it baked though

beantownsmugglerReally? How? I thought the acting was insanely good. And I went into it with doubts.
McConaughey especially...that dude absolutely killed it in this movie.

WampirePosted in here a while ago before it came out and this thread has been haunting me since then. I just saw the movie tonight and holy shit was it fucking awesome.
It took a bunch of my favorite things into one movie.
1. Space
2. Mathew mcconaughey
