I can get last years Nomad RKR in 171 for 300 bucks, or get this years ON3P Kartel 106 in 176 for 679. I ski roughly 50% park, 50% side country and glades. I am 5'8 150 lbs and want something nimble for the trees and is light for spins and rails.

I have the nomads and they are fucking amazing. most fun ski ever. probably more nimble than the On3ps because they have a shorter turn radius. Super maneuverable, bouncy and fun but also don't have a speed limit and very capable of holding up when you want to push them.
The one thing though is that if you are 50% park, the nomads recommended mounting point is fairly far back on the ski. the Kartels are probably designed to be skied from more of a center mount position. I ski the nomads from the recommended spot and they are amazing but can't tell you how they perform mounted further up. i've heard from others that they still ride super good mounted forward though. nomads also measure a tiny bit short so you are aware

One being half the price of the other, this wouldn't be a question unless you're concerned about center mounting the nomad. The ON3P construction will be burly, but slightly heavier. Bamboo core will make them snappy and will resist breaking down over time a bit better. Both could probably work, but when it comes to a toss up I look at performance, price and durability... After that, I go with the one I want more, because at the end of the day it's about want I want, not what the figures suggest I want dammit.

Absolutely love the Nomad RKR. My bindings are centered and the ski rides really well. All around a great playful ski that works in the park, groomers or backcountry/glades. Definitely recommend it.
