Making the mountain your terrain park?

So this season I've seen a bunch of edits at Alta where skiers find features normal people would not scope out and they get creative. When I think of these skiers I think Thayne Rich, Jazz Vitale, Sander Hadley, Price Foulger, and even Candide and Karl shred these more natural features. Personally i find the edits those guys put out more enjoyable than any other edit just because i ski in places where that is what people do.

What do you guys think of this style of skiing? Is it something you enjoy to watch and do you think it is a respectable niche in the ski industry? Who is your favorite "all mountain" shredder?

Sander Hadley and Tanner Hall put down a sick edit from Squaw on vimeo. I really enjoy watching it because seeing stuff I wouldn't normally do always gets me thinking and makes me improve my style.

really fun. I wish there were more places that could compare to alta in terms of natural features and stuff. here in the east most of that stuff got bulldozed.

One of the edits that inspired me to make this thread. Also why I included thayne and karl in the examples. John kills it too tho. Never realized how much people ski at alta

I've always skied at Alta and see those guys killing it all the time. I've met and talked the Thayne and Price they're rad and stoked on skiing. Personally they're people i try to model in my skiing while developing my own style. Making the mountain a park is where it's at.

This style of skiing is super cool. Check out some of the Bridger Brigade's stuff, they tend to have a similar style.

I personally find them more enjoyable than park edits most of the time. It's one thing to link up tricks in a groomed park. It's a totally other thing to bomb a sick mogul line or a chute to get to a natural hit and then trick it. Shows true skill and creativity on the planks for sure.

i can't do rails so i usually stick to using the mountain as my terrain park. I completely slay on groomers

This is where I've been trying to take my skiing for a few seasons. Hunting Yeti is really what got me into this mindset of using what you have in the resort and finding ways to ride the mountain in a progressive way.

Encourage everyone to re-watch Hunting Yeti to see what Pollard and Crew were doing back in 09

Awesome! I was there at the same time they were and the conditions were crap. I felt like I couldn't do anything but this edit made me look at skiing differently!

Really though, Hot Lunch completely shifted my perspective on skiing. Being someone who grew up without mountains and pretty terrible conditions, seeing an edit where pros are just dicking around and HAVING FUN wherever they are, regardless of conditions was both refreshing and encouraging.

But yeah, skiing like this, making the whole mountain your playground is one of my favorite things to watch! Sander Hadley and Garret Russel are definitely some of my favorite skiers in this this type of skiing. Also Candide.

Yeah man for sure haha! He's probably one of my favorite skiiers in the category and in all types of skiing as well.

Love watching edits like this...think it shows a really really high level of skiing and style. Personally getting bored of watching park edits..think they are way to repetitive and unless its someone who is really good and creative.

Love watching this kind of skiing. It's so much fun to just go out and crud bust.

Lincoln, aren't you from Pocatello? From what I've seen some locals have been making Pebble Creek into one big janky park. Man made pillows and jibs everywhere in the woods. It looks super fun for this kind of skiing.

Yeah I'm from pocatello. I saw your comment on Instagram the other day haha. We're working on something called "the stash park". Basically we saw the wooden features at jackson hole and put our own personal twist and style on it. Some of the features in there are super fun and the new ones look even funner! Can't wait to hit em!

Dude! That's going to be so sick, I ran into the Pocatello crew at beartooth and now they get me stoked with their posts from pebble creek, I've wanted to do something like that locally for a while now.
