Moving out west

BC all the way man

I don't have any advice on where to go above the 49th, just wherever you do go, try and find someone where you move that would be willing to help you out while you get on your feet. Nothing is worse than loading everything in your car, driving across the country, and then realizing you have no job, little money, and everything you use on a somewhat regular basis is in a dumpster back home because you decided your skis and bike were a better use of space.

If you want Canada, BC. Not sure where specifically, maybe Vancouver/Whistler area, but I haven't skied there so I'm just assuming.

If you want US, Utah. Short drive from city to ski areas, lots of snow, awesome terrain. Jackson would be good too if you don't mind not having a big city nearby.
Unless you want wet heavy snow, then PNW (Washington/Oregon) or Tahoe. PNW gets a lot of snow but the ski areas are a kinda long drive from the cities. Tahoe is super gnarly but doesn't always get much snow. Or Alaska of course.

try portland because you have three resorts one hour to hour and a half away. plus in the summer timberline's open till september. we have one of the longest season in the us december to may its also an hour and a half from the beach (if that matters to you) the gorge is really close too. just an idea.

You should really consider Calgary. Seems to be a lot of job opportunities, especially for trades. close to COP and Lake Louise also. I've got some friends out west who really enjoy it even though their not skiers.

I'd rather as place a little less city, I wouldnt be able to Handle a big city (i live in the boonies now)

You could try Enderby/Salmon Arm, BC or somewhere around there. I've never spent any time there, but I've been through the area a bit. It's certainly not a city and Revelstoke and Silver Star are around 1.5 hours away and Big White is a little over 2. Vernon is about the same, but Silver Star and Big Whiter are around 1.5 and Revelstoke is 2. Then there's Pemberton of course. Or just straight up move to a ski town.

You could also go to google maps and search "ski areas in british columbia" and scroll around and see which look most appealing to you.

Or purchase a snowmobile and move to some random place where you can find a job and are surrounded by mountains.

Fernie, BC. Awesome skiing, small town with a population of 5,000. I got to go there in March and it was unreal. I want to eventually move out there after I finish school.

1. Leave your GF at home. She is going to split on you eventually, this will save you from getting all emo for a week or two and missing some epic ski days.

2. If you get to Calgary, keep driving west... Calgary is great for jobs, shitty for skiing.

...... Otherwise, your preferred line of work and/or income requirements may heavily dictate where you wind up. Every place has pros and cons. In general, its rad out here and you will find good skiing where ever you go.... Its probably easier if you pick a place based on your off season activities... for example, if You like climbing Golden is awesome, Wake boarding/surfing is best in the southern interior, Sqwamish and Kamloops have some sick Biking ... great fishing in the Kootaneys .... the list goes on. good luck in gods country, and dont forget ..
