Shooting photos with the gh3

Is there a way to take photos while in video mode? Or is there a way in M mode to be able to see what you are adjusting before you take the photo? It's really annoying how if I change the ISO or shutter I cant see change to the screen except for the light meter and Im thinking there must be a way to change that.

ya but im talking hen you're just in video mode, and with canon cameras you can take a photo while you're recording

yes it does. But that's not the point I want to see the settings Im adjusting on the screen (i.e video mode) instead of basing it off of the light meter.

So you just want live view?


You can turn on live view while you're in photo mode.

Just learn how to take pictures without the Live View crutch. Sometimes Live View can be helpful, but if you're dependent upon it to get exposure right, you're doing it wrong. Learn how to read the light meter and practice shooting and you'll be fine.

You're completely useless at tinkering with electronics, I just picked up my gh3 and toggled live view it took me 2 seconds to find the button. Its left of the eyepiece, fn5 and it has a LVF label right underneath the button.

lol no I get how to do that i just want to figure out how to make the screen show me what it looks like when i adjust the iso and the shutter just like in video mode.

if i wanted to do that i would just use my film camera, the point being able to see the adjustments I'm making is so I dont have to use the light meter. Especially when I want to take a picture that's under/overxposed etc.

The light meter should be able to tell you how to do that. Nobody uses Live View to take pictures. If anything, snap a shot, check exposure, adjust accordingly, snap another, repeat until content. It should only take 2-3 shots max to make it work.

Just turn on "Constant Preview" option. But it can get weird results at long shutter speeds.
