NewEscuelersNature is fucking beautiful on its own. Why would anyone want to paint it to try and "enhance" it.

ChubbyBoyBanksy is a douchbag. Oh you made a clever "art" about social media or the government. Congratulations I bet you're really forward thinking. How about you buy a canvas and paint your own shit and not on public buildings.

Dr.DickButtWay to miss the point.
Do you hate Basquiat as well?
ShredsterrIt's not like he's painting on the fucking Taj Mahal or something.
ChubbyBoyI hate on anyone who makes "art" on public buildings. It's not your building don't touch it. Banksy and Basqiat have more than enough exposure and skill to create murals on canvas and sell them or create a kickstarter campaign to hire billboard space and put his "art" there.
stucciBanksy has indeed created other media. Personally, I think graffiti makes his work more powerful and without vandalism he probably wouldn't have had as much traction as he's had.

Dr.DickButtWell Basquiat is dead, so he wont be making a kickstarter anytime soon.
A huge part of Banksy's work is being unsanctioned and in public. IMHO, Banksy wants to take art out of the Louvre, and put it in a place where everyone can see it so that people that wouldn't normally be exposed to art see it and question its' meaning or just appreciate it for what it is. Almost all of his work is social commentary that most blue collar folks can relate to, just the type of people who wouldn't regularly make it to a gallery. Also it would be fairly hypocritical of him to put works up on purchased billboard space.
On another note, Banksy's not exactly defacing modern marvels- nor does he do permanent damage. If anything he brings a bit of beauty and mystique to the crumbling and decrepit that many people (yourself not included) appreciate.
Many of Bansky's works, not all, go up in truly public areas and the argument could be made that we all own it so he has every right to do what he does- especially when so many people appreciate his work and it causes no lasting damage. He's not exactly blowing up Big Ben now is he?
You're entitled to your opinion, but that doesn't mean it isn't ill informed and poorly constructed.
ChubbyBoyThe only people who think banksy graffiti is "art" is young kids trying to rebel and associate with a life against his social norm. Plus many kids get into graff to offend mainstream sensibilities. Thus, many find banskys media celebrity and the aggrandizement of his work offensive. Many in the graffiti community don't like bansky. Like when he went over King Robbo piece in 2006 in London when he was unknown. Banksy is also a pretentious boring officeworker rich boy who thinks he has some right make any kind of social comment, when his art is tired, uninspired and pretty much just a plea for attention and fame. Banksy is part of the system he is so arrogantly critiscising. If this dude was still on the street, and doing work that was more than a gimmick, maybe he'd have some credibility, but he's getting his work sold in auctions for millions, and getting paid to graffiti stuff so he's hardly even involved in the scene.
Bansky is not only a part of the "modern art" scene, he is also ruining the credibility of whats left of street art now, and the popularity of his work just propels "street art" further down the spiral of "art for fame" where kids only make paste ups in the hope of doing a collab with nike someday.
Also, just because something is a public space does not mean you are entitled to graff it.Public spaces are owned by the government so no you can't make an argument for being allowed to write on it.
