[BP]thank god that was a trained bear
loganschnurThe skiing was insane, but I'm not a fan of the ski "movie" with a plot and storyline. Sure it can have an underlying meaning behind it like, "Fuck it and ski" or "Just have fun" kind of vibe, but I had a hard time getting into The Recruitment and Five because I was thinking, "What the hell does stabbing a teddy bear have to do with skiing?"
veetuzkaThat girl got small boobs.
WillowShabbyWell the natural, for me at least, thing to say would be that the girl's relationship with the bear is basically a symbol of Villa's relationship with skiing (urban). The conclusion would then be that the toy bear turns into a real bear after being punished for his acts just as Villa comes back a more grown up/sicker skier after the crashes...
But... I think that NS members could have other views on this... Ladies and gentlemen.. Fire away!
This is from my other thread that got removed, but I really think the idea of making a segment with a side story is really quite interesting. Some guys in the thread had some cool ideas aswell

godhatesfigsSkiing was obviously dope. I thought the plot was interesting so I'll take a stab at interpeting it when I don't have so much fucking work to do. For now I'll just say I'm almost certain that the girl and the bear represent skiing and Vila respectively. There is evidence to that it might actually be the opposite which would be interesting, but bear = vila, girl = skiing seems more likely. Still not sure how the bird and squirrel people play into it.
HeddiousTeddybear Crisis vibes anyone?
Other than that.. the skiing was good, as expected. And I get that he wants to think outside of the box and tell a story, not just stack trick after trick on top of another. But no matter how hard I try to justify the almost naked butts I fail. I'm pretty sure he could have told the same story without a half-naked girl and the film angles that reminded me of porn. Just filming those parts a bit differently and I dunno, skipped the "slowmo walk out of the pool" and it would have been passable. Now I'm just irked.
*patiently awaits the downvotes* :)
TallxT(First I'd like to say that I think there are some differences to this online version from what I say at IF3.)
After I watched it at If3 I thought the following for myself.
Teddy Bear= vila
Girl= Girlfriend
Pigeon/rabbit masked dudes= personification of skiing/ friends/ crew
Stripper girl= random hoe possibly a personification of skiing
Teddy starts off with his girlfriend spending time and skiing some. Shots are pretty much alternating hanging with her or hitting urban. Then there is a crash followed by a flash of the pigeon mask , no more shots of the girlfriend for a little bit while we get a bunch of skiing shots and some shots of teddy fucking around, drinking, a shot of the girlfriend alone at the table, teddy fighting, and teddy with a different girl (the one on the stripper pole).
Then we've got the breakdown of the girlfriend mouthing "Fuck" while the pigeon said "don't... just keep the balance" At IF3 I'm almost positive this said "Don't you see... It's about balance" I think this is a clever plan on the fact that hitting rails is about balancing but more importantly having balance in your life. Clayton says he doesnt like being called 'that skier kid' because he has a lot of other roles in his life.
This segways into a montage of the result of losing balance on rails and in life as we see clayton fall a shit ton while Teddy gets stabbed and torn apart by his girlfriend for cheating on her. After the clip of Clayton getting X Rays on his collar bone, which ended up being broken and interrupting his season for a month and a half the girlfriend finally finished her assault on teddy and tosses him to the side.
Here we then see the bitch look up to find a giant ass bear. Clayton is back to stomping tricks, after the injury and is not looking back. The girl seems to want him back but he just can't care about her anymore after she hurt him so badly. Clayton is shown having quick flashbacks to the scenes with teddy and girl and so on but they end quickly. Clayton greases a lipslide on a C DFDFDFD (shoulda blind 2 out) and the bunny lights another cigarette because skiing still gets the lions share of Clayton's focus and passion instead of the girlfriend.
To me this said that our relationships need as much attention as we give our skiing or we can't truly be happy. Its ok to pursue those snow related passions, but skiing will never love you back like a hot blonde from California will.
