We don't need another social network. And just because you have a trendy website design with pictures of hipsters on it does not make your idea good.

Also, after reading everything on their website I still don't understand what they do or how they "pay" you. And having a mash up video of talk show hosts that are not from the company makes me want to get an account even less than I did before I watched the video.

It definitely could. However remember that YouTube has pulled off monetization of content quite nicely. Now they have a more closed system, but its not impossible.

For those of you who want to dig deeper into this philosophy of the internet, I highly recommend reading Who Owns The Future by Jaron Lanier.
