JustGoWithItIt is sad that such things keep happening, but in the grand scope of things it is only to be expected. There are almost 50 million students in the United States and to say there is a way to stop every single one of them from taking such an action is ridiculous. It is never going to stop because it can't, and that's just the reality.

If they really wanted to do something about this, they could provide additional funding to schools instead of wasting it on foreign aid so the districts could hire more mental health professionals and law enforcement to better protect students and prevent these sort of things before they start.

i love how in america we all of a sudden decide to do something about this issues AFTER they happen instead of preventing them.




it will keep happening as long as Americans keep putting mental health on the back burner. not a gun issue by any means.

I just want to mention that this shooting seems quite similar to the school shooting at UCSB earlier this year, in the sense that both shooters had substantial trouble with women.

i was listening to the Joe Rogan Experience podcast a few weeks back and he was hosting Adam Carolla, and Adam Carolla mentioned that when he was 18 somehow his dad sensed that he was going to have trouble with women in the future , so his dad made him see a therapist about this. In Adam Carollas situation, it was not like he had a huge fucking problem with women and needed to see a therapist, but his dad basically told him that he has never had a positive experience with something that has a vagina.

the way i basically see this is, some ppl need therapy. therapy is like a multi-vitamin, you may feel it and it may work for you or it may not, but the point is that you are actively participating in your health by seeing a therapist and building relationships with others

thats just my whole take on this issue

I usually agree with the mental health thing over gun control, but in this case it is both. This shooter is not a law abiding legal adult who could have gotten the gun no matter the protocols for purchase. So I think gun control and regulation does come into it because if he has mental issues but couldn't get a gun, no school shooting. When it comes to shooters who could legally obtain firearms I think its more of a mental issue that should be examined. Because in reality no matter the waiting period, or stipulations, they will go under the radar and wait for their gun. But kids should stop being able to grab a gun off the kitchen table.

Agreed. In my opinion keeping kids from getting guns from home is entirely parents' responsibility.

The main difference is that kids who join gangs and are subsequently shot down knew that was a possibility going in. As sad as it is, they rolled the dice and lost, whereas you don't expect to be fucking shot and killed at school on any given day.

What are you on about? I never said that. I simply said people who join gangs do so with the knowledge that they can be shot down on any given day, because they do. Go take your bullshit looking-for-an-argument-ass out of here.

I'm assuming you were going off of the posts about murders in Chicago, to which you essentially said they deserve it for joining gangs as if it were really a choice, not to mention all those caught in the crossfire simply for living in the neighborhood.

Wow, so much of this thread has been about off topic things, and not the actual shooting situation itself. One of the girls in the hospital died yesterday, The shooter was the homecoming prince, a witness said it was "out of the blue" why dont we talk about this instead the other garbage in this thread?

I agree with you on some points, But I really think this is another issue of just another unstable kid shooting up his school. Yes, you could say the access of guns in this country doesn't really make it better for mentally unstable people, but you can't deny the fact that stable people don't think of shooting places up as okay things to do. Believe me, I know its difficult to come to the realization you have an issue at such a young age like this, But I really think he would not of done this had he went and got some help. And it's not like its impossible, either. Their are plenty of young kids his age with problems that corrected their issues.

Can we address the mental health issue? I'm sure we could put tens-hundreds of billions of dollars into mental health counseling, and we may see a slight decline in these incidents. At the same time, it will still happen and everyone will call for repeal of it at that point when they see us running this country deep into deficit again. As much as people hate to admit and you may see your life or the lives of people around you as priceless, there is actually a price on human life. What do you think war is actually about?

Someone posted about how drunk driving, serial killers, whatever that list was is ALL preventable. Sure, let's just get them to quit killing eachother in the middle east too...world peace, it's such an easy problem...

Once again, I never said that. I said gang members know the possible outcomes of joining gangs when they join these gangs. Thats as simple as I can put it this time, there's no possible way you could completely misunderstand me this time and try to come at me with some dumb bullshit argument.
