Opinion on DPS skis??

Dear newschoolers, I was wondering what the NS community thinks of DPS skis and their pros and cons.

I don't think too many kids on NS can afford DPS.

The dentists over on TGR on the other hand...

If I could afford them....I would buy them. Carbon skis would be bad ass.

The only one id buy (if i was a dentist) would be their fattest spoon. Too little companies make skis like that, but i understand due to the lack of demand. Reverse sidecut skis kill it in the conditions they were designed for.

They're good but not twice-the-price good. I've skied the RP 112, RPC 112 and Lotus 120 Spoon.

so what other companies pure carbon fiber skis cost 1/2 as much?

No, I am a blogger but not a proform good enough one.

It's just like, eh, you know, my opinion man. Only the 120 was a carbon version and I liked it least, but I don't like skis with carbon in them generally. RPC was totally mediocre; I preferred the Automatics all round which are a similar concept and retail around 40% less if you pay full price (50-60% less if you shop around). RP is excellent for what it is but not my kind of ski, and still overpriced. Again, just my opinion.

Anyone curious, just try them out. Preferably without reading online reviews prior to trying them. I know a few people who like them a lot and don't regret spending the cash (mostly RP Hybrids, some RP Pures).

how do you figure an atomic automatic is 1/2 the price of a dps hybrid?
Who is selling them for $300
comparing the price of a pure carbon ski to a ski made with less expensive materials like glass or a carbon stringer or two
isn't really a valid comparison
regardless of if you personally don't think the weight savings or feel of a carbon ski is worth it.

Hybrids, not carbons. Hybrid RPCs go for about €850 here. I got my Automatics for €380.

If you love the skis the price increase is worth it I guess. But you'd have to really love them.

btw kittens arent "half the price" of dps. but they are around 300$ less and if you would have pre ordered them they would be even cheeper...

is there a profit in there? or just lutz?

Pretty funny all these hybrids and all the full carbons are all selling for about the same prices give or take a hundy or 2
everyone including dps does a dreamy pre order price
my main gripe on dps was the i'd rather have/see passionate skibums making
skis and more local jobs.
now that they're makin pures in O town I hope theyre able to move hybrid construction here too.

Pick and choose whatever you want out of context.

Read it again slower if you're still confused with my opinion on the RP & RPC. The RP is a good ski but not my style. Your (mis)quote is from my RP review and refers to assumptions I made about the RPC before trying it; assumptions based on how the RP skied and their comparative design, but it underwhelmed me entirely.

Yes, don't read DPS reviews everyone (including my own) just try them. My growing opinion is that there is far too much BS being written about niche ski brands. This is why I didn't tell the OP to just go and read my reviews, better to just try skis with an open mind and see if they work for you.

The Pure3 Lotus 120s I skied a couple seasons ago were very rad. Charge hard, impressively damp, and very light.

These are the only DPS I'm interested in trying, although when I flexed them in a shop they seemed a little floppier than I was expecting, and honestly kinda heavy.
The DPS I've tried in the past (Wailer 112RP, Wailer 105) have all been a little too turny for me, they also chattered pretty bad at high speed.
As what was said above, y'all should check out Kitten Factory's skis: carbon laminates at less premium prices in more "newschooler" friendly shapes.
