Tips on carrying skis on plane

Hey NS,
So in January I'll be going out west (to Breckinridge) and I need some tips on carrying my skis and boots on
the plane. I have never brought ski gear on a plane, so tips would be appreciated. Such as would ski and boot bags be a good idea, etc.

If you remove your snowboard bindings you can fit a lot more stuff in your bag

Unfortunately weight is the issue far before space. I usually leave the bindings on my main board and bring a spare deck. underneath. Sometimes it seems almost worth it to me to pay the overweight but yolo.

The best airport for overweight ski bags that I've been to was OR Tambo in Johannesburg. After they weigh it they have you wheel it around to the side since it's a long bag. Perfect for chucking a bunch of stuff back in if you're sly lol.


Ski gear sucks though. In the words of JJ Cale "Traveling light is the only way to fly". Unfortunately skiing/boarding requires a bunch of bullshit.

Oh well. Can't really complain.
