Kit Lens

In your opinion, NSer's, what is your thought on the 18-55mm.
I understand it is pretty good for photography, but what do you think I could uprgrade to without spending more than $300. I want it for video btw

You can get the kit lens used for $75 on amazon. If you're talking about a Canon body. You didn't really say.

Not sure if you already have it or are looking to get one haha. your post doesn't really make sense.

Yeah, offer him 300 for this. That's really the fair, and going price for these, and it's PRECISELY what you need.

The Kit lens is fine for starting out... it's adequately sharp and provides all the basic focal lengths from wide to tight.. but it's slow as can be, and the aperture varies an entire stop 1/2 from 18mm to 55mm... which means for zooming, it's pretty awful. This Tamron is plenty sharp, built well, fast, and 'parafocal' which means the aperture isn't going to change as you zoom in a video shot.
