Young_Strepif you get stopped by the cops in Amsterdam, it's illegal for them to search you. I mean, that's a right the cops in Amsterdam don't have.
That's actually not true. Police can search you on reasonable suspicion or if you are in a "risk area".
At least continental police are quite nice, they don't have tazers and never use their guns, be kind to them and nothing happens, be a twat and enter a world of fines.
louie.miragswhy is everyone assuming weed when CO, and WA are a lot closer, cheaper and easier? Not to mention CA, OR and other states where it is easy to get. Plus, it is easy to get in the rest of the states?
Amsterdam's legendary status for weed is just something that has held up over the ages due to drug tourism, there are hundreds of coffeeshops who sell so an abundant variety everywhere, but that's Amsterdam, it caters to the tourists, in the rest of the country only larger towns (say 50.000+) usually have maybe one coffeeshop filled with shady locals and that's it.
It just isn't a big deal for the Dutch people, it's a bit of a shame really, Amsterdam has so much more to offer than drugs.
