When I'm having a great time plopping and hopping through pow and usually when I'm in very intense situations, I start talking to myself in my head saying things like "you're doing great" and "left ski.... right ski" or like "sammy goes twice as big you pussy" to just commentate what i'm doing and kinda hype myself up without the use of lame ass emotions like fear.. This seems to calm me down but I'm also usually pretty baked so does this relate to any of you? Like am I CRAZY or should I just keep swimming? HOW ARE YOU'RE BRAINS WORKING WHILE YOU SKI LETS Get WeiRd

If Im skiing pow I am usually just yelling out loud of about how tight it is and how much fun I am having. If its park Ill usually like say what trick I am about to do while I am taking off. Then when I land I compliment myself oh how sick it was.

Honestly though, once I'm in the thick of it everything fades out and I am concentrating super hard. Sometimes even if my music is blasting its like

When i'm just barreling through the groomers (east coast) I usually am just thinking of my edges and feeling the turns drift under my feet.

In the park i'm like "360 here we go...Oh shit i'm still spinning....guess im doing a 5...phewwwww landed switch... oh look a little bonk thingy...ohhh look lets see if I do this onto/over that.....shit.....where'd my skis go."

This or some other song. I never listen to headphones but I'm always singing a song in my head or shout it out loud. Uncle Johns Band was frequently on my mind last year. Singing any good tune can add to the fun.

Not too much dialogue, but it happens. Usually skiing pow is an incredible in the moment experience and everything shuts down. Thinking and speaking become riff-raff until the bottom of the run.

when the fluff is very deep this is what my dialouge is
"WHOOOO YEAAA FUCK YEA WOOOOOOOH!!!!!! YYYYEAAAOOOOWWWWWW!)

Basically this for me too but I yell Fuck Yea or something after I land something big or after I had a powgasm.

I talk to myself when skiing in general.

Hitting a jump: "O.K. Pop, look around, spot landing"

Overshooting a jump: "Oh fuck, brace for impact, knees bent, oh fuck"

Closing day: " bye ski season I'll miss you"

Dude i agree with you 100 fucking %. I do the same shit and it hypes me up so much, "fuck yeah" and the occasional action sound, "uh!" over a pillow, "oh fuck, oooooh" over a cliff. And it probably does have something to do with the pot, but who fucking cares. blaze it shred it inner monologue it

I never listen to music really either, but I almost always have some song in my head. And sometimes I sing it but never too loud. Just having a good time and thinking about life and shit, and of course the snow.

Quite strangely, when i do "bigger" tricks, even tho the airtime is bigger, there's not much going through my head, i guess thats because of bigger concentration. Like for a backflip its pretty much like: "Ok let's do this.......speed is good to go, aaaaaand now..........................and now. Yeaaaaaaaaaah"

In pow i just mentally jizz everywhere. That is all.

Absolutely!

When the skiing is tough I am talking myself through it (either with pep talk or with criticism).

When the skiing is easy I usually have some monologue going that is working through something in another part of my life. Skiing is almost like a meditation, the activity clears the mind for other thoughts. Same is true for lawn mowing....

I go into a total mind silence, like I don't even hear the music I'm listening to at the moment.

It's kind of a problem for me in the park because before I drop in I'm all "this is what I'm going to do yada yada yada" and then I drop in and it's like "what are these wood things on my feet..."

I usually plan and visualize something resembling the line I'm about to ski, pump myself up with music and drop in. Once I do, i usually go into tunnel vision and concentrate really deeply on my skiing. I don't usually focus on anything else, my mind is blank, besides what is in front of me. It's my favorite feeling in the world. It's what I literally live for.
