People get pretty worked up over blackface. I went as a black cop last year, not even anything derogatory, and had a drink thrown at me. Fortunately it missed, unfortunately it hit the bar tender who got mad and stopped serving me.

That ray rice one is pretty terrible. As "offensive yet topical" costumes go, I still remember when Corey Lidle (Yankees pitcher) flew his personal plane into a building in NYC by accident a little while after 9/11, and it was around when the movie "The Aviator" came out. Some dude went as the Aviator from the movie, but wearing a Lidle jersey. That was pretty tough to top.
