This thread has been made dozens of time, but it is super hard to find an old thread on it in the searchbar. So many other threads come up when you try to search for a vague topic like this that it is almost impossible to try to find it.

i always wanted to do an action sport ever since i was younger. skateboarding never clicked though. i gave up on the dream for a while until last year when my cousin forced me to go skiing. i argued the whole way to the hill and then all of a sudden when i was up there - something clicked. and i couldnt get enough. i skied a week on rental before i convinced my parents to get me gear for christmas.

its the funnest thing i think i think i can do. it makes me feel so alive. it makes me feel like a different person. its the first thing i really feel passionate about in a long time. also the community, all the content on the internet related to skiing, its all really cool and keeps me loving it. before my cousin got me to go with him, i didnt even know freeskiing was really a thing. i thought snowboarding was the 'freestyle winter sport'.so. yeah. thats why i ski.

tl;dr its fun and makes me feel alive. also, i didnt know skiers can go sideways on pieces of metal so that was pretty new and i was like, hey. i wanna do that.

I started doing it for the simple fact that I love the mountains and it gave me a reason to go to them every weekend. Now I keep doing it because its something my wife and I do together, plus its gives us a reason to go to differnt states and countrys.

There's no right or wrong with skiing, you can just do whatever you feel like doing. Some people won't like it, some people will, but as long as you're having fun, that's all that really matters.

When I was 3, my grandpa (who shredded into his 80's) bought my family skis and lessons at Silverstar in B.C. From then I skied with my family and stuff, not too serious. Then I got into park at like 13 and never looked back.
