What is the worst job you have ever had?

Duty every 3 days (forced to be on ship overnight in port) 12 hour work days, we were micromanaged to shit, cleaning on our hands and knees for no reason, they gave you shit for taking leave days, some people in charge were huge dicks for no reason, etc. So much bullshit. The free college is worth it. The experience - not worth it. I had an amazing time on my off days in france and greece, but those few days did make up for the shit we went thru to get there. I hated almost every minute in the navy and my life is exponentially better since I got out.

Thank you for your service. If it helps, I really, really appreciate everything you guys have done and will do for our country. I definitely could not imagine myself doing what yall do so I give you all the respect in the world for that.

things in the military suck. Like not eating, in a couple days, or your body being broke off by 25 because you run and jump around with 80-130lb of gear. Or not having showered in 10, 20, or 30 days while eating MREs an sleeping 30-120min a night. Or getting tasked to do some bullshit detail like picking up pinecones Ina fucking pine forest. Or getting called in a 2am because one of your guys got a DUI. But it is by far the best people I have ever met. Guys that won't ask for a what or why before driving 20 hours to help you do _whatever_. It's those really short moments when everyone is sucking hard, when you realize the exceptional sort of people you get to work with.

For me, the people make all the other shit worth it.
And there are those days where I can't believe they pay me to do this.

It also allows me to look at people in the civilian life, when they start to complain about something mundane, and shut them up with a stare.

Working as a engineer tech for the NYDEC. It was a summer job. It was an hour commute to albany. My job was doing whatever the engineers in my dept asked me to do. Scanning/filing/general bullshit. But the worst part was that everyone was a lazy piece of shit. No one ever did anything. I was bored out of my mind. These people make close to 100k at tax payer expense and they just sit there.....this is why i will never again work in the public sector.

Holy shit that sucks, when I was in korea a crew chief dropped his NOD's from the bird in the middle of nowhere. The entire battalion had to play hands across Korea for like a fucking month. It was terrible.

My military service was tough, but it at least had perks, and I got some sweet stories out of it.

Painting houses in the Texas summer with no harnessing equipment, ladders held together with duct tape, and zero painting experience. That was the worst job. I painted like three houses and bailed. I worked with this gang-banger dude named Omar, straight covered in MS-13 ink, and he would come up behind me and "play shank" me while I was on a ladder. Shit was whack. "I'm jus playin mayne".

Ah, yes.. I forgot about one crucial part of my story on the first page. I worked with a guy named rob who had just gotten out of jail for raping a 9 year old and I didn't know it at the time and drove him across state lines to a job. I wonder if I could have gotten fucked.

Working at Taco Bell in high school made me want to kill myself on days I had to work, but I guess it wasn't that bad. My first job being a dishwasher sucked, definitely the filthiest..

but I have a pretty good story behind a job though I didn't hate it. When I was 18-19, I worked at a warehouse for SpeeDee Delivery, unloading/loading trucks. Now it's a huge distribution warehouse so they really don't know who's working when. I was hired to work like M-W, but we quickly learned that as long as you used your access card to clock in 3 days a week, it really didn't matter what days you worked so it was flexible. A lot of my friends all got jobs there, so that was cool too and the pay (8.50/hr) wasn't bad at the time.

Anyways, a friend quit and wanted to get his last paycheck. I wasn't working that day, but I said sure, we can go there and I'll use my security card to get him into the gate and we'll go to the office and get his check from payroll. So that we did, and went home--never stepped foot in the loading area.

However long after, a police officer came to my bare-ass apartment asking me some questions about work. Apparently a shipment of jewelry was stolen and they were pointing their fingers at me. I answered what I knew (which was nothing since I had no idea that even happened until the officer interviewed me). Next time I went to work, I got called in to an office and a bunch of big wigs were there. Since I went in that one night to let my friend get his paycheck but I didn't actually work, it looked hella fishy. Anyways, they say it was like $40k of jewelry and they fired me and said the police would be back since they knew it was me, but the cops never talked to me again because I'm sure that officer knew after seeing my apartment that I didn't have more than $8 available to me at any time.

Im currently a "Street Dancer" for a costume shop, I stand on the side of a super busy street with a sign that says "BOGO COSTUMES" in a batman outfit. It's all great until it starts raining and I get soaked by cars.

hmmmmmm. Being in the Marine Corps is pretty shitty. Stressful as fuck, but i get medical and dental, with job security that isn't that good. You gotta embrace the suck all the time. I love what i do though. Reading some of the jobs people bitch about is amusing to me. A bunch of fucking pussies in this country. Its almost embarrassing for some of you. Oh well, Semper Fi!

I am apprentice plumber with a company that builds high end apartment buildings. I wake up at 430 and catch a bus for 10 mins, ride the subway for 40 mins, then another bus for 30 mins. Walk 2km to the job site and make it there by 7. Then I shit you not all I do is carry heavy fucking steel pipe of 15 flights of stairs because someone fucked our lift. But last week they fixed it so I fucking wrenched said pipes together, and make showers. I get paid bank. I only have to work 2 days a week to support my self in my own place and go to school.

One of the worst feelings I had in the military was FOMO. I missed on so much shit my friends were able to do. One of them being skiing. I know it is about sacrifice, but that part sucks.

What makes it worse is realizing that I fell for the trap. All of the lies from the recruiter to start. That is known they lie, but to a 19 year old it sounded sweet. No way any college was getting done in the first few years serving as a submariner for example. Yes, the commercials and recruiter lied. The media praises you for your service, then you realize it is all a plot to get people to join. All of the awesome military movies and commercials are all ways to get people to volunteer. Yes the support helps from civilians. But, when I realized the whole game being played to glorify the military it made me feel like shit. I felt shitty a lot in the Navy, regardless of how glorious the media portrays it. Some people may say you're pussy or a bitch, whatever. But, when I realized I wasn't really fighting for this country I felt shitty. Felt like a waste of time and energy. Is it really worth it to have a few thousand of our men die in the last decade in the middle east? Or whatever we're really fighting for? I can't go into detail about my boat's mission, but it is not as glorious as the Navy commercials and movies make it out to be.

I was the only straight Guy at panera and everyday i had to put up with all these really fruity gay guys who would call everyone (including me) princess and grab each others asses. I quit that shit in a minute
