Searching for the right ALL MTN Twin Tips

Hi,

I am 16 years old and skiing for about 12 years now and I am really good in it. I weigh 160lbs/73kg and I am am about 5,9feet/1,80m tall.

I don't spend a lot time at the park. I don't use rails and stuff, but I love to jump.
I'd say that I ski about 70% of time on the slope, but I love riding off-piste/powder.
So my skis should be nice for this.

The reason why I want twin tips even if I spend most of my time on the piste, is that I want light, quick skis additionally to my racing skis.

I know, that twin tips can't be as nice for carving as racing skis on the piste, but I am searching for twin tips which I'll most of the time use to carv, but they should also do a good performance in powder and be light weight, cause I just want to do weird stuff.

The price shouldn't be higher than 500$/400€

If there's is an Armada Ski, that fits my expactations, then i'd love to take it, because I have good experience with that brand.

check out j skis there model called the allplay is 100mm under foot so it should go alot of place and it comes with a few cool graphics. the other its the rosinol soul 7 that might work not a full twin tip but it could work. anything thats 100mm under foot or above 96mm under foot should work. also check out liberty or this

the new j ski powder ski looks like it would be good for you i know its a powder ski but its only something like 114 underfoot i think so it wouldn't be bad also its supposed t be good all mountain

Take a look at the ar7. At 86mm it will be ok for all mnt in Europe. It won't be amazing in powder but they will be ok. If you want to go slightly wider to get better pow performance look at the arv ti. They are 100mm but have ti laminates which help stiffen the skis up so carving performance is good for a wider ski.

On the other hand, also check out the bdog, Alpha x, al dente, and ARVti from armada.
Bdog and alpha are the same dimensions at about mid 90's underfoot the alpha x is just stiffer. Same thing for the al dente and arvti. The arvti is just stiffer. But the arvti and al dente are high 90's underfoot. All of those skis have rocker. The bdog and alpha x are a 5 point ski if you like a more traditional feel.

A little out of your price range but you may be able to find last years model for cheaper. I'd suggest the 4Frnt devastator. These skis will rip the entire mountain, especially since you're not really skiing in the park. Sorry, I don't really have any experience with Armada so I don't know what to suggest to you from their line up.

Came in here to suggest the 4frnt devastator, ski rips. Also brand new this year (A bit higher of a price) from 4frnt is the Gaucho with titanal construction which seems to be what you're looking for.

gaucho is not a good ski, skip it

This. The Devastator seems like a perfect ski for you. Not the lightest I guess, but they aren't obnoxiously heavy.

I bought mine off backcountry for super cheap, you might want to see if they still have some.

You need something non symmetrical, probably fairly stiff. What width underfoot is appealing? Out here in the Pacific Northwest, everyday skis for most people are getting wide, 100-110mm average if say.

i would go with either k2 press, k2 domain, or surface blank. i have been skiing on the same pair of k2 press for 3 seasons (this will be my 4th on them). great ski. thing can take a beating. same goes with k2 domain. i just got surface blanks and am waiting for snow, but i think it is a great ski. including the other models of the blank, park blank, all mountain blank, original, for an all mountain, of coarse you are going to go with the all mountain blank. the all mountain blank has an underfoot of 100mm. perfect for an all mountain ski. as apposed to the park and original blank with an under foot of 90 for park and 76 for original. and it all depends on the amount of snow your mountain gets. for a mountain that gets on average 200ft of snow per season, your typical all mountain ski for that would be a fatter, powder ski ( k2 seth, aramada tst, nor-walk, etc.) for mountains that typically either make their snow or get very little, a more nimble, park ski would soot you better (k2 press, domain, surface blank). plus, the k2 press and surface blank are a solid, inexpensive ski.

Guys, don't recommend him skis that are shipped from USA. He is from Austria the shipping will be from 200$ and more I checked it, because i wanted to order some Moments. Hope you find the best ski, I am finding All mtn ripper for Europe too so

Yeah to many suggestions are based aroun North American skiing. For Europe most people are still using narrow carving skis so for an all mnt ski you will be fine on a park ski like the ar7 for example. The op is used to carving skis so suggesting big fat rockered skis is probably not the best choice. I was skiing deep powder in France in some jmo's witch are 100mm so suggesting 100-110 skis for everyday is possibly not the best choice. Now when I'm in whistler sure skis that big make perfect sense for an every day ski but that is not what the op needs. Try to think about where he is skiing and how rather then just suggesting what works for you where you happen to ski.

First of all I want to thank you for all your recommendations!
I'm really not used to getting so many answers in online forums.


One big problem are the delivery costs. The ski + binding shouldn't cost more than 500 - max. 600€/720$.
So a few of the Skis would even cost too much if I take the 2013/14 model.

Important : I don't want to take an Armada Ski if it's not the best choice.
Because after reading a lot about the diffrent Armada Skis, I start thinking that none of that really fits.


The K2 Shreditor 102 seems to fit my expectations pretty well, but as I said I've no exprience with twin tips.

Are there any real cons about the k2 shredditor 102?

What binding would you recommend?
Should be under/arround 200$

Nordica Soul rider or OMW. Soul rider is a 97 underfoot with front rocker and OMW with 86 under and a pretty stiff core with full camber. I ride OMWs and they have ton of pop and slay on and off piste very well. Both very stable unsymmetrical twins.

for what you want id say yes, they are really soft which wont be great for jumping and not the best for carving and going really fast.

they are great if you're looking to jib around and butter but thats not what it sounds like you want to do. if you do they would be good.

Maybe try the Head Oblivion? 132-90-112 i believe? fat tip to get over chop and definitely stiff underfoot. Ridden them and they are great carvers, but I didn't ride them on any chop or variable conditions. The plus is that I bet you can find them at a shop in Europe for much cheaper than the AMerican skis.

I would also look at Blizzard. They have some of the Best Carving skis out there in my experiences. They are also fairly stiff overall.

APO makes some really quality skis too that carve amazingly and are more focused on Freeride. The Rocko Sounds like it might be a good choice and they are based in Europe

Again: thank you for your help.

I can now search more specificly for the ski I want:
It should be arround 90 underfoot and pretty stiff since the the performance on piste is very important to me.

Also I want to use it as a fun ski to try out some simple tricks and also to ride backwards...

I've really spent a lot of time now to find the right ski and I think the Armada Alpha-X is the ski I'm searching for.
So if there is no real Contra about the Alpha-X I'll order it.

In the "what binding"Thread I found the Marker Griffon as a binding which should fit. Is this right? Is there any better binding for this price?

I also wanted to ask if the Alpha-X model from 2013/14 is about the same ski as the new model. Does somebody know that?
