Does anyone know when killington will be opening up this season? Based on previous years it's usually around the 25th of October, last year the 28th. It's been so warm though I can't even find if they have been able to blow snow or not. Always such a fun weekend with everyone so pumped to be back
I doubt they have been blowing at all. But once they do start blowing, they usually get up and running super fast. Like within 2 weeks if it's consistently cold enough
once it gets cold enough, they'll start making snow or maybe we'll be blessed with another huge storm in october like we did a few years ago. nothing like skiing before halloween.
They need 2 maybe 3 cold nights to get the triple and the trail underneath it ready to go, at this point they will start blowing as soon as they can get a few nights in the 20s.
For the past few years I have been an expert at tracking/stalking the killington snowmaking process. I check the weather and factor in humidity rates daily and from my calculations they will start the guns either late this weekend or early next week. I also check webcams for snowmaking equipment movement and they are currently prepping.

And everyone just fucking sending it off of that little jump on the side that develops before the lift. There's almost always and few collisions, rarely do people get mad. Everyone just so pumped. I remember last year it started snowing and people went crazy.

surprisingly, the one time I did shoot up there for opening day, it wasnt bad. you had the die hards out there rather than the joeys. but still, yes, killington is a death trap with the crowds.

It's supposed to get below freezing tonight, but I highly doubt they will start making snow yet for another couple of days if the weather's supposed to stay like this.
Sure thing. Well, in correlation to elevation, we all know temperature changes. it goes roughly 3.3 degrees cooler from the base every 1000 vertical feet, but thats with cloud cover. without cloud cover its roughly 5 degrees colder per 1000 feet. well using this knowledge plus the fact that killy is a bit over 3000 feet, even with the shitty rainy temps this coming week at night it will still be close to 10 degrees colder at the top. this being said, humidity is a real bitch. its gonna be super high and will hamper the process of snowmaking. they will probably test the guns tonight but not start til next weekend

Little update from killington two days ago for whoever cares, looks like we will be waiting another week or so for snowmaking.
-------"6:21 pm 10/19/14-- We have a short cold snap upon us now. Unfortunately, the weather forecast doesn't look promising for sustained cold and suitable snowmaking weather.
We've got our sights on next weekend's promising cooldown. In the meantime, stay tuned right here for all the latest news.

last season I noticed early November they had so many signs saying not to do this.. made me feel more like badass doing it
A_Burgerwill they be open on election day? I think they stayed open weekdays in the past but I forget
Yeah once they open and have enough snow they're in it for the long haul
