all you DIY recorders out there I've got some questions. So I've been just plugging my guitar in to my computer via USB in Logic and Im trying to record through my amp. What kind of mic should I get for my amp/vocals/other random sounds? What preamp do you guys use?
And a quesiton about Logic can you record raw audio? If so how all I see im mp3 320.
thx

I use a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 preamp/mixer which is somewhat cheap for a decent preamp. You can just plug your guitar into the mixer and do effects in logic, also I'm pretty sure you could plug your amp into it. I have never recorded with guitar but I've used an old keyboard, and a mic. As far as getting a mic, you should definitely do some research on your own, maybe stop into your local music shop, I can't recommend which would be best. It really depends on what you need out of it, there are quite a few different types of mics out there.
