sorry lencon, but there's no reason bamboo needs to be almost $100. and those extended grips are really dumb
frickindarnI would love a pair of panda poles. But I'll never spend more than like $25 on poles. (Sorry I buy my poles y'all)
treebeardwell yeah, that's kind of my point. they're in a freeskier's market, and we're generally not gonna spend much on poles. the only exception is variable touring poles, but that's not something they make

.lenconJust thinking about a lot of flaws this one brand has (won't name names) and it got me thinking about this. If a company went under who would you think it would be? We've seem klint go under. So NS, what ski company do you think would go out of business and why? Not that I think any brand is gonna tank soon, but if say someone told you a ski company went out of business, what company would you think went under?
.lenconI personally like the grips how they are. Coming from a resort where there is a lot of traversing (and coming from the resort panda poles originated from) it is nice to grab up high on the grip while traversing then down low when skiing. thats just me though.
I hate any pistol grip haha.
treebeardi definitely get that line of thinking, i just feel like you can make that work with any pole. i push the same way, and imagine most of us on here do, but i've never found myself wishing i had that much extra room on the grips.
here's my main issue with the grips. you drop a cliff, and it doesn't go well. for whatever reason, you fuck up your entry and find yourself off balance, flailing and trying to not die. you land heavy, your arms get pushed to one side or the other, and you hit yourself with your pole grip. with a normal grip, it hurts but that's pretty much the end of it. with an extended grip, you run the risk of impaling yourself if the drop is burly enough
i've got enough to worry about when dropping a big cliff, i'd rather not have one more possibility to have things go wrong
maybe i'm way overthinking this and the above scenario just doesn't ever happen. but it's enough for me to be skeptical and feel that the benefits from pushing don't outweigh the potential for getting fucked up
