WPochBut If you want a more cinematic feeling, go for the 50mm 1.4
pussyfooteri LOL'd
WPochdont get the 1.8 trust me. Get the 1.4. you will not be disappointed it is so much better.
And to answer your question, the less focal length, the more stabilized it looks. So a lens at 18mm will look much more stable than a lens at 50mm. Thats why wide angles are used with glide cams. But If you want a more cinematic feeling, go for the 50mm 1.4
nutz.a lower f stop won't make it more cinematic... if you're going for a "look" why not pick up some cheap vintage glass ALONG with the 50mm 1.8 for the same amount of money you'd spend on the 1.4. Idunno, I don't think the half stop of light and slightly better bokeh will make that much of a difference if he's using it to shoot skiing at night anyways.
-AM-I think he was really getting at the idea that the 1.8 has an awful focus ring for shooting video (which I guess isn't really an issue for skiing cause hes probably mostly using autofocus).

gavinrudyA 50mm and a glidecam is a terrible combination. Shooting glides at that zoom can be nice for a shot or two per edit, but you will get very inconsistent and hard to watch footage if you try shooting a 50 on a t3i on a glidecam.
