Hey NS, Slvsh is a freeski matchup league similar to what Stept's Skate on Snow was. We've filmed 12 games so far. The first game, Noah Morrison vs Noah Wallace, drops tomorrow, October 14th, on http://www.slvsh.com

I thought it was dope to see a bunch of stuff you never normally see in a contest (albeit a cool one). It can only be for the sport and the cup that the wider audience is exposed to some variety. However, Vini's switch 3 on should never have counted and the set should have changed. It's a hard trick and I could just about see letting the zeach go but it was early off to the side too.



Reffing that shit in real life is so damn hard though (claim) and if you just watched it real time from another angle, I could see how it might look good. It's hard to say if it'd have changed the outcome and as a rule, Woodsy crushes it.

Update on Monster Conspiracy theory: after Vinny comes up short on the sw 7 Woodsy explains how there is a "3rd party" that has joined the game, "the wind" but then Woodsy proceeds to readjust the Monster hat so the camera can see it better

That was a great game to watch. Also Quan was a great ref glad he actually held people to the rotation they called instead of letting all cork, rodeo, bio, etc calls just be super loose

yeah and everything has to be so exaggerated. vinny might not even win his next game, how has he ruined the tournament?

People just need to accept that Slvsh is a tough game that kinda relies on some code of honor and that's going to be subjective. i'm sure we can all agree that it'd be wack if you found out i couldn't do front flips and just did front flip, dub front, front on the box gap, etc. but you also need to play to win to some extent... we'll never agree on where the line should be drawn

ive prob said this 100 times in this thread but it just makes me respect the riders more. beyond skill level, there are just so many ways to lose or get hurt or embarrassed haha. iffy ref calls, tricks you've never even considered before, messing up a trick you can do in your sleep cause you only get one try... so rough.



i assume the organizers give a little informal rule/suggestion list session. don't freak out on the ref, keep the mood positive, blah blah blah

Kinda silly to say Oscar is a better skier. I'm not saying Vinnie is a better skier than Oscar either tbh, although Vinnie has a more innovative approach and seems less comp focused. There aren't many (if any) big air jumps that have matched that kind of technicality to this day.

Unless specified otherwise absolutely yes. If you land a cork 7 but rip a ski off with a mute grab and land and ski off on one ski it should absolutely count

Not saying it should or shouldn't, but I think that judges in fis/xgames count it as a make as long as you show control and don't revert immediately if it's the last booter.

Maybe you missed my point, I’m just saying the judge (and one of the best we can all agree) is there for this exact reason. And he says it counts.

If you mean generally speaking, I would have to lean towards if you rode away and it was basically an equipment malfunction, then yes it should count. That’s just my 2 cents though.

I think that after people put in mad work, it got pretty competitive, and when the judging went terribly (the year team canada won) people were pretty pissed off, rightfully so.

I get your point, but this isn't X-Games or FIS, and that's the best part, it's everything we love about skiing for the most part, just a bunch of guys going out, having fun, hyping each other up, and putting a competitive spin on it. I think this particular call we're arguing about was a little sketch cause if i remember correctly there was kinda some revert/shuffle type stuff going on, but as someone said before, if you ripped your ski off with a grab, but you ride away cleanly it should count, unless it keeps you from completing the rest of the line, but in this case it didn't. Also Woodsy's a dope ref.

What other team had a shot of the macarena on a box? I remember it being more of an issue when Symms and Colby West won with 'My Friend is a Pro'-Simon and Wallisch were butthurt. Pretty sure neither were the reason JOSS ended though. I think Jon Olsson just moved on. It was a pretty crazy logistical feat to pull off.

Wrong, its defense in a game of slvsh> would you play a game of skate and someone stomps their trick an a wheel falls off the board so its considered not a make? fuck no. Defense is always reffed different than offense.

a few loose calls in hugo vs finn. But another sick game... was surprised to see hugo get another chance at the 10 lead stale mid game because of miss understanding the call: never seen that before! Either way the ball doesn't lie


Honestly could care less though I just love watching these guys throw down for fun and push eachother's skiing
