Hey NS, Slvsh is a freeski matchup league similar to what Stept's Skate on Snow was. We've filmed 12 games so far. The first game, Noah Morrison vs Noah Wallace, drops tomorrow, October 14th, on http://www.slvsh.com

Making him try a trick that he doesn’t want to do is part of the game, and what makes Slvsh so great. He should be gracious about it, not pissed because he doesn’t want to loose. It wasn’t ‘fucking around.’ Careful who you tell to grow up, some of us are.

It was like a Henshaw v McEachran game. To me it seemed like Aleksi was having fun and AHall felt threatened.


I mean, the point of the game is to win. It wasnt like andri was there throwing quads. Aleksi was on offense for most of the game. Thats more fun than having to play defense over and over and over again agaist tricks youre not comfortable with.

These guys at the slvsh cup hang out together every day, ski together every day, I'm sure at the top ahall was like "fuck ive never done this before, ima land it" and then was stoked when he landed it and was fucking around with aleksi. You guys take shit way too seriously.

Aleksi when ham on ahall and he matched everything, two day game of course ahall just nailed in the coffin with some hard tricks, he didnt set for like what, 7 or 8 tricks? Its a game, the skiers are going to do tricks they think will win the match.

TRVP_ANGELAgreed. Also its worth noting that aleksi was pissed because Steve didn't count his last set because he only landed with a slight handrag where steve has counted all slight handrags before as legitimate .


Yeah I wondered about that call as well, I liked Steve's reffing, but giving Aleksi a letter for that didn't seem in line with the rest of his calls

i was working out yesterday and one of my workout partner lapped me. I gave them a light-hearted middle finger as i was walking over to the erg and realized they had lapped me. should i have just been gracious?

how grown are you that you can't discern when someone is fucking around and doesn't really mean to say "fuck you?"

I understand the competitive vibe of not wanting to get knocked out first round of a comp you traveled to compete in, I just don't want to see this cup to turn into a shitshow of riders calling their safety tricks that they know the others can't do because they want the $$.

Yeah I want to see high risk high reward tricks. AHall v Colby. Sick game. They threw greedy tricks and had fun, and it was incredibly competitive. I would love to see these top skiers getting letters by big lines, not a trick that was clearly called knowing the other skier had no idea how to do it. It's not nearly as fun to watch. This game just showed me AHall was willing to play a little dirty. Idk, the Cups over so I guess we will see how it played out. I have faith most of these riders were out there having a blast and caring about fun, creative and competitive games and not just the W.

You're naive if you think these guys won't throw a trick that they know someone else cant do, its how you win at the game. You can't just play the game and expect your opponent to make a mistake, watching both skiers land the same mellow tricks for 20 mins is not as entertaining as two skiers trying hard tricks, sometimes for the first time and battling it out for 10 mins.

Watching this thread is almost as much fun as it was watching the game.
That said is anybody here really surprised that Aleksi went so hard on Alex? Alex is a slvsh cup winner and aside from maybe Henrik he is kind of the guy to beat. Aleksi obviously wants to win I mean who wouldn't? So he isn't going to go easy on Ahall and let him just take it. Also if you think that Aleksi was not playing cool and calling to many hard tricks remember that Alex has called seatbelts on people who can't do them before and in his game with Laker called a stall to 540 off the close out tube after Laker had been unable to do a 360 stall off of it.
Finnaly, as far as Alex's attitude goes, everyone has bad days and after a couple painful crashes, nonstop tough tricks and too many nose grabs no wonder he got pissed off. It doesn't make him a bad player, it makes him human.

Lol the way Hall took that seemed like it was like Magic Johnson v Larry Bird beefing on the court. It was like he was trying to get into Aleksi's head, so that as soon as the set changed Aleksi would hand over the game.

I think people are too focused on the middle finger there was other stuff, like A Hall saying "the set better not change", AHall saying "fuck this" after he didn't land the cork 5 double nose, and Im not sure if I read that right, but when Steve gave AHall the letter on the BS, B2 on the DFD, AHall was audibly saying "really??" in disbelief. Im sure that probably intimidated Steve a little bit to give a no-go to that highly questionable call on Aleksi sw bio 9 nose.

Overall it seemed Aleksi was there more to have a good time, and AHall was there to win the Slvsh cup again. Like Aleksi was clearly rattled, and after all the shit that they were doing, I feel a SWR5 shouldn't have been much of a problem for him.

Everybody tries to act like this Slvsh cup is like everybody just being best friends, making cork jokes, and having a good time, which it might be 99% of the time, but in that game AHall was acting like a total dickhead. At times he sounded like a kid in little league storming back to the dug out after striking out, throwing his helmet. Which is understandable for someone who seems like they want to win at all costs and would be mortified by being iced in the first round.

1. Your workout analogy fails, because in your case your partner actually bested you, whereas Ahall gave a kid the finger after landing the same trick

2. Ahall' s jock behaviour went way past the 1 middle finger incident

3. Jocks gonna jock, we all saw what went down

4. Steve called a great game, aleksi's last hand drag was heavier than the previous, and set is more demanding than revenge

oh my GOD dude cry me a river. Ahall had arguably the same EXACT landing earlier in the game on a defense trick and steve said if he was on offense he wouldn't have given it to him, so he had to not give aleksi that last make. They were jabbing back and forth as early as the first trick where aleksi was saying "please fuck up please fuck up", then the back and forth they had before the backslide front swap. the BSB2 on the DFD was arguably closer to a make than aleksi's last trick, steve was hard on the sets all the way through.

reffing was on point, aleksi had some crazy sets and ahalls defense was one for the record books. mistys with tails and flats with nose grabs are legit some of the hardest contorting tricks out. people need to quit crying because someone was competitive, dude wants to win so he called a hard trick to end it, it's not like they weren't ultra competitive all the way through.

surely you're entire post wasn't directed at me, all things considered. i don't really think the analogy fails in a scenario where the only goal is to match the other person's trick. i gave that analogy only to say that you can do it light-heartedly in otherwise friendly competition, whether you are being bested by someone else are are the one doing the one-upping. he also says something along the lines of "fuck you for making me do that" not "fuck you, i just matched your trick." clearly, the psychology for doing it is different than everyone is stating.

Well put. Obviously these guys want to win, that wasn’t my point. The point is you can be chill about it or you can be a dick. Ahall displayed the latter.

Can't be mad about the last 2 tricks that AHall set. The game had been going on for a while and he tried to end it quickly and secure the W. Fair enough. But I definitely didn't appreciate AHall's attitude throughout the game. Although his win was well deserved, he didn't need to act the way he did. Like why the middle finger? That kinda shit doesn't belong in a slvsh game imo. I'm personally looking forward to a potential match between him and Harlaut.

AHall is a G and Aleksi is also a G. The game was incredibly entertaining. The beauty of slvsh is that every game is different. Some are more homie style where the plays agree beforehand to be friendlier with their calls. Some are like andy parry games where obvious there are 2 very different bags of tricks but its fun to see either rider try out what the other rider likes to do. Others are when people really push it and get the opponent to try something for the first time. That shit excites me cause i can relate to the rush of first attempts.

It should be no surprise that the games in the Cup get competitive. A winner is given a prize here and everyone shows up with the hopes of winning it. If you didnt like this game then you really aren't into the slvsh cup. Has nothing to do with AHall. Go watch any other games from AHall and enjoy those instead.

You are correct, pretty much only point 1 was directed at you.

You bring up some other good points, though my bottom line is basically that I don't think Ahall was behaving lightheartedly, which was enough for me to watch the game and be like "wait is this guy actually mad rn??" and that bothered me.

Lotsa people with lots of well rounded views on skiing sounding off rn, which is nice too see.

Idk dude, the "please fuck up" on Aleksi's part seemed more light hearted, and AHall seemed more like "fuck this kid for trying to come in and take me out first round"

It's just the overall attitude, Aleksi seemed to be like "wow Im in a game with AHall", hence why he was like "fuck" when he lost the rock paper, scissors, and why he was like "may I rest in peace" when the set finally changed, because he knew he was facing someone who has a good chance of winning the cup.

Im not going to go play for play with you and analyze ever nuance more than we already have. Overall, I just thought AHall was acting like a bad sport, and made the game uncomfortable, way more than Aleksi did. The energy was almost that Aleksi was just giving it away at the end because he didnt want to make a permanent enemy lol. Like Im sure AHalls heel hurt a lot, but I think he was also making Aleksi feel bad for calling a bunch of big jump tricks when it was clear his heel was agitating him.

right. for all we know the cameras could have been kinder to aleksi (sp?) than alex. I mean, in the first half of the game he's saying "please fuck up, please fuck up" on a trick he doesn't want to do. does that make him an asshole? i don't really think so. but it also wasn't to alex's face. if anything, it set the stage for a competitive game, if only mildly contentious game.

like this^ guy said, that's kinda the weird part about slvsh. it's jokey and friendly for the most part and it's something of an anti-comp, but the fact remains that it's really difficult and dangerous stuff theyre doing and it must be super frustrating, so i'm sure it's hard to temper that competition aspect with the friendly aspect
